@mentaylly_ill@KesSkirata “I can’t decide if it’s a choice, getting swept away, I hear the sound of my own voice asking you to stay.” sums up Red to me!
because people are too fucking stupid/misogynistic to understand this update:
the judge threw out the sexual harassment claims (she’s still able to bring claims of retaliation) because he ruled that Lively couldn’t bring a SH claim under federal law since she was an independent contractor on the film. federal anti-discrimination laws including Title VII do not protect non-employees.
California state law DOES have protections for ICs, but the judge ruled that she can’t file a claim under CA state law because the movie filmed in New Jersey.
This is a horrifying reminder of how fucked our system is
@SulkingVamps@saturnwinters it makes sense! i hope it doesn’t deter anyone from continuing tho! i went back and reread it while i was reading qotd and taking notes on marius’ character and i actually adore it with the rest of him in mind.
We searched 852,000 Epstein documents for "pizza," "ice cream," "hot dog," "walnut sauce," and every alleged food "code word."
823 documents mention pizza. 464 mention ice cream.
Every. Single. One. Is about actual food.
But what we found instead might be worse... 🧵
@SulkingVamps@saturnwinters i think it would’ve made so much more sense in qotd - a novel comprised of backstory and the novel that actually made you care abt marius’ character!
@saturnwinters i 180’d on my enjoyment of it after reading QOTD and went back and reread it slowly! took so many pages of notes on his philosophical outlook and the way akasha shaped it, i didn’t love his story until he really became a fixture in the plot and not just backstory guy.
The real problem, as with slavery, is not actually in the material condition of the slave which can be better or worse than average, but in the enduring moral truth that some things ought not to be for sale.
"The most human, powerful and humbling thing I've ever seen was a church at 3:00 on a Wednesday full of inconvenienced people who believe in going to the funeral."

3 years ago I saw her give a talk at Yale and she seemed deathly nervous (weird because she's big in field) until she made a 'but what would you do alone in a cage with nothing but cocaine' joke, then immediately relaxed once everybody laughed. She was nervous about her joke!
Hey Toronto peeps or anyone willing to travel there to pick up things. There is an auction for items uses in TVL production but they don't ship.

@belovedghostlor i don’t actually think taylor wrote this bc i think florence is also an impeccable songwriter, but “king” is so taylor coded it’s crazy. then taylor put it on her pre show playlist and i was so validated. again, verrrry strongly don’t think she actually ghost wrote it but still
hank green basically made a tiktok saying if u believe taylor swift is a nazi you are brainwashed and beyond saving and some boneheads in the comments immediately tried to prove him right 😭
taylor is much more secure than y’all give her credit for and a TK signature wouldn’t be claiming the work, at most, it would be claiming being a muse. no need to paternity test the songs, he’s signed on.
“people don’t need to bubble wrap me in their minds as much as they do.” - taylor swift
gonna do a itsnotthatdeepism but truly if this is real, it went about as far as “hey wouldn’t it be cool if.” your intro to women’s studies hot take is puddle deep and so tiresome.
life is not supposed to be that hard. love is not supposed to be a constant struggle, love is meant to be joyous and a simple fact. hope you find that one day and realize that joy is as much of a real feeling as sorrow, and has just as much artistic merit when expressed.
in retrospect, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights were the chronicle of a woman feeling deep things for the first time ever while in an actual adult relationship, only to find that way too scary and retreat back to perpetual teenagedom
