What an energizing session ahead of #WHA79 🌍
Together with @IFMSA, @IPSF and @UHC2030, we brought together young advocates to exchange on #SocialParticipation, #UHC and youth-led advocacy ahead of the 2027 UN High-Level Meeting on UHC.
From #HealthCostsHurt storytelling to ACT for UHC, the discussions highlighted one thing clearly: young people must not only be included in health decision-making — but lead it 💪
Join us at the #WHA79 Civil Society Networking Space on Tuesday 19 May for a full afternoon of youth-led events.

What a moment at @IFMSA's closing event in Copenhagen!
Hundreds of medical students and young doctors from 70+ countries filled the room with incredible energy showing they are ready to shape the future of health systems.
It was a real pleasure to speak to this inspiring crowd & share 4 reflections to take forward:
▶️ Connect: IFMSA shows this - dialogue across borders is essential for global health.
▶️ Challenge: Medical students are our “critical friends,” speaking honestly about what works and what doesn’t; progress needs that truth.
▶️ Care: protect the mental health of those who care for others.
▶️ Lead: don’t wait for a title; lead with values, take responsibility now.
I left this meeting feeling very hopeful: a globally connected, values-driven generation is ready to lead.
Prof. Steven Lewis (WFN President) and Prof. Riadh Gouider (WFN First Vice President) recently met with delegates of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (@IFMSA) during their 75th General Assembly in Copenhagen to discuss brain health, the WFN, and careers in neurology, among other neurologic topics. During the session, Prof. Lewis and Prof. Gouider gave presentations and engaged in interactive discussions with participants.
The WFN has a longstanding relationship with the IFMSA, including partnering in their handbook for professional exchanges/rotations in neurology (https://t.co/Qfdv0RpMZB).

Medical students don’t just bring ideas. They bring the unfiltered truth of real life and have the courage to say it out loud. They are our critical friends.
Today, I met with Kana Halic Kordic and Sie Meng Lie from the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), as IFMSA marks its 75th anniversary in Denmark, one of its founding members – bringing together 700 student representatives from 70+ countries.
We focused on the mental health of young doctors and medical students. Our recent MeND report shows that young doctors experience poorer mental health than their older colleagues. WHO/Europe will work with partners, including @IFMSA, to support the wellbeing of the health workforce - because safe, high-quality care depends on it.

We thank all our partners who attended the 76th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Western Pacific in #Fiji. Their engagement, insight and commitment were truly energizing.
Ranging from NGOs and CSOs to foundations, academia and student associations, our partners connect institutions with the lived realities of our communities. They bring expertise and innovation to where it’s needed most. And help turn policies into action.
At #RCM76 this was abundantly clear.
From tackling hypertension, alcohol control and HIV to emergency preparedness, climate change and health systems resilience – our partners helped keep our discussions grounded in reality.
Because only through partnerships in health can we truly achieve #HealthForAll.

"Peace remains the most powerful public health intervention."
At the @WHO_Europe Regional Committee #RC75CPH, Hans Kluge (@hans_kluge), WHO Regional Director for Europe, reminded us that health and peace are inseparable.
“While others may still have the luxury to watch and wait, we in the Pacific do not. For us, the choice is not between adaptation and mitigation; it is between our survival and loss.” @IFMSA urges all stakeholders to act now, to protect our planet & health of future generations.
“To reduce administrative burden and allow healthcare professionals to focus more on patient care rather than paperwork.” @IFMSA envisions a future where AI supports human-centered care.
