Dave Umahi and the 5 Missing NELAN Engineers.

The firm assigned five of its best engineers to the project. They were:

• Engr. Nelson Onyemeh — Lead Consultant/CEO of NELAN Consultants, from Ihiala, Anambra State.
• Engr. Ernest Edeani — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Ikechukwu Ejiofor — From Umunya, Anambra State.
• Engr. Samuel Aneke — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Stanley Nwazulum — From Amawbia, Anambra State.

During the course of the project, serious tensions reportedly arose between NELAN and the Umahi administration over project control and payments. According to the families of the five engineers, the Umahi government allegedly wanted NELAN to "take a back seat" so the state could exercise direct control, issue payment certificates, and give instructions to contractors.

The then-Governor Dave Umahi reportedly wanted NELAN to sign or approve certificates of satisfactory completion for work supervised or executed by other engineers and contractors. NELAN allegedly refused, arguing that doing so would violate the AfDB contract terms, breach its professional obligations, and risk the firm, and possibly the project—being blacklisted by the AfDB.

On November 3, 2021, the five engineers left Enugu for Ebonyi State in an official Toyota Hilux (registration number ERR 001 EB) for site supervision. They never returned, and, to this day, neither they nor their remains have been found.

Five brilliant engineers from NELAN Consultants were deployed to a major project in Ebonyi State. They are:

While on official duty, serious disagreements arose between NELAN and the Umahi administration over project control and payments.

The engineers’ families alleged that the government pressured NELAN to step aside, allow direct state control, and approve payment certificates for works they did not supervise a move NELAN resisted to protect professional standards and avoid violating AfDB contract terms.

On November 3, 2021, the five men allegedly left Enugu for Ebonyi State in an official Toyota Hilux (ERR 001 EB) for site supervision. They have not returned since, and their bodies have never been found according to the family members.

Justice is still being demanded for these professionals and their families.

Happened In Anambra State:
This woman’s husband was rushing to save their child who is convulsing, but was arrested during an environmental sanitation exercise last week Saturday being 4th of July . Even after explaining about the emergency, he was still detained, and the child d!es.

According to the wife, he was was taken to the Anambra East Local Government security cell. Even after the child’s death, he was reportedly still not released yet, despite the wife’s request to see him cos the baby was still breathing then. we need to ask some hard questions:

Why not seize the motorcycle if necessary and allow the father to go save his child? Why should enforcing environmental laws come before saving a human life? Shouldn’t there be room for compassion during genuine emergencies?

Government agencies and security personnel should be trained to balance law enforcement with humanity. Protecting lives must always come first.

Look at how they put this woman in distress, imagine losing your baby because of untrained securities.

The former commander of “Ebubeagu” in Ebonyi state, popularly known as Japan, has been arrested in Enugu state on a kidnapping case.
