HOW TO BECOME A DWELLING PLACE FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for yielded hearts. God has always desired a people He can dwell in, speak through, and reveal Himself through. If you desire to experience His guidance, conviction, peace, and power, then your life must become a place where He is welcomed every day.

1. Live a Life of Repentance

Repentance is more than saying, I'm sorry. It is a heart that is quick to turn back to God whenever it drifts. The Holy Spirit convicts to restore, not to condemn. A heart that refuses correction becomes hard, but a heart that embraces repentance remains tender before God. Every act of genuine repentance makes more room for God to work within you.

2. Walk in Obedience

The Holy Spirit does not only speak to inform us. He speaks to transform us. Every time you obey His voice, even in the smallest instruction, you strengthen your spiritual sensitivity. Delayed obedience often becomes disobedience. A life that consistently obeys God becomes a vessel He can trust with greater assignments.

3. Build an Atmosphere of Worship

Worship is more than singing songs. It is a lifestyle that honors God above everything else. When your heart is filled with gratitude, reverence, and praise, it shifts your focus from earthly distractions to God's presence. Worship softens the heart and creates an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit ministers freely.

4. Be a Person of Prayer

Prayer is where intimacy with the Holy Spirit is cultivated. You cannot know His voice if you never spend time with Him. Prayer is not only presenting requests but also listening, waiting, and allowing Him to shape your heart. The deeper your prayer life becomes, the more familiar you become with His leading.

5. Guard Your Heart

Whatever fills your heart will eventually influence your spirit. Be careful about what you watch, what you listen to, the conversations you entertain, and the company you keep. The Holy Spirit produces holiness, and a guarded heart protects what He is building within you.

6. Choose Humility Every Day

Pride makes people self-sufficient. Humility keeps them dependent on God. The Holy Spirit teaches those who are willing to be corrected and led. When you stop pretending to know everything and remain teachable, you position yourself for continual spiritual growth.

7. Love What God Loves

The Holy Spirit will always lead you toward love, mercy, forgiveness, truth, and compassion. Bitterness, hatred, envy, and unforgiveness suffocate spiritual growth. When your heart begins to reflect God's heart for people, you become a clearer expression of His presence in the world.

8. Stay Connected to God's Word

The Holy Spirit never contradicts the Scriptures He inspired. The Word renews your mind, strengthens your faith, and gives discernment. The more Scripture fills your heart, the easier it becomes to recognize His voice among all the other voices competing for your attention.

9. Respond Quickly to His Promptings

One of the greatest ways to remain spiritually sensitive is to respond when the Holy Spirit nudges you. Whether He leads you to pray, encourage someone, forgive, give, or walk away from temptation, respond without hesitation. Ignored promptings become easier to ignore the next time, but obedience sharpens spiritual discernment.

State Police Is Not the Answer. Restructuring Nigeria Is. …./2

This imbalance matters because the State Police debate focuses on only one item among dozens. Police is merely one of sixty-eight subjects constitutionally monopolised by the Federal Government. The same Exclusive List centralises authority over prisons, mines and minerals, railways, arms and ammunition, and numerous other strategic functions. Consequently, removing policing from the Exclusive List without addressing the wider constitutional architecture would amount to treating a symptom while leaving the underlying condition untouched.

The question therefore is not whether policing should be decentralised. It should. The deeper question is why policing alone should be decentralised while dozens of other functions remain trapped within a constitutional framework inherited from military command structures rather than democratic federal design. The State Police debate is ultimately a debate about symptoms. The Exclusive Legislative List is where the disease resides.

This arrangement is neither accidental nor historically inevitable. Scholars of Nigerian federalism have documented how the concentration of powers accelerated during decades of military rule. Functions that were previously exercised by regions or shared among different levels of government were progressively transferred to the centre. The 1999 Constitution largely preserved that military-era command structure. What Nigerians often describe as federalism today is therefore, in many respects, a unitary system wearing federal clothing.

The consequences of this constitutional distortion are evident across every major sector of national life. Insecurity is one manifestation. Economic underperformance is another. Weak public service delivery is yet another. The same constitutional structure that produces a distant and ineffective security architecture also generates fiscal dependency, weakens subnational initiative, discourages productivity and reduces institutional accountability. Nigeria’s security crisis and economic crisis are therefore not separate phenomena. They are products of the same constitutional dysfunction.

The geographical spread of insecurity further demonstrates this reality. What was once largely concentrated in the North-East and parts of the North-West has expanded across virtually every geopolitical zone. Recent incidents indicate that kidnapping networks have increasingly penetrated parts of the South-West, underscoring the national character of the crisis. The challenge facing Nigeria is therefore systemic, not regional.

For this reason, the proper national conversation is not “State Police or no State Police.” The proper conversation is whether Nigeria is prepared to redesign a constitutional order that has concentrated too much power at the centre, weakened subnational initiative, undermined accountability and constrained development.

State Police will be necessary. But necessity does not make it the solution to a dysfunctional Nigeria.

Nigeria does not merely need a new policing architecture. It needs a comprehensive restructuring agenda anchored in a new constitutional settlement- one that rebalances the Exclusive, Concurrent and Residual Lists; devolves powers to the lowest effective level of government; strengthens fiscal federalism; guarantees equal citizenship; promotes productivity and competitiveness; and restores sovereignty to the Nigerian people through a Citizens-led Sovereign National Conference and a referendum on a new constitution.  That is the true restructuring agenda.

Restructuring the dysfunctional territory and system that our beloved country has become is THE BOLD CONVERSATION AND ACTION that Nigerians can no longer afford to postpone. There are no other viable alternatives left for us at this point.

First, they should tell us where she got such money from.

Second, they should provide the names and locations of the benefiting NGOs, and verifiable evidence that the donations have been properly utilized.

The advocates of akara economy should set up this business for their siblings and family members to demonstrate the efficacy of their postulations.

Since your mother sold akara to train you, why haven’t you opened akara factory for your wife, daughters, sons and political associates to promote and sustain your mother’s entrepreneurial legacy?

With the collapse of public education, how many akara sellers in this country currently can afford to pay their children’s tuition in private schools?

How many akara sellers can pay the rising costs of tertiary education and healthcare?

How many akara sellers can afford to pay the rising rents in Nigeria today?

How many akara will one sell to be able to buy fuel?

If akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli are viable and sustainable microeconomic investments in Tinubu’s Nigeria, let the defenders of Tinubu show us members of their families that are engaged in this enterprise.

The point is not that akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli aren’t necessary foods, the point is that we are all witnesses to how the Tinubu family has amassed wealth and captured state power to entrench and further their selfish and greedy ambitions.

We have seen the insane convoy of Remi Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu and their benefactor in Aso Rock.

It is deceitful and disrespectful for the same family that is living in opulence, amidst the ravaging and dangerous hunger in the country, to be pushing akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli economy.

Bola Tinubu’s regime has been a wasteful and disastrous experiment.

We have seen how he is destroying our economy. But his annoying and power monger wife feels she can lecture the victims of their misrule and incompetence about the viability of the akara economy.
