Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (@UM6P_officiel) from Morocco and @OCP_Africa, at our office, as part of a field visit under the ongoing project titled "Enhancing Capacity and Reducing Post-Harvest Losses in Kamonyi and Rubavu Districts." This initiative is being implemented by Master’s students @EricRukebesha and @IgihozoV , in collaboration with @WGYB_NGO.
The project is part of the Seed to Lead program, an initiative led by University Mohammed VI Polytechnic in partnership with local African organizations. The program supports student engagement through projects that generate meaningful social, environmental, and economic impact.
After a warm welcome at our office, the delegation visited farmers in @Kamonyi District, where we had the opportunity to engage with Agricotec (Abadatezuka ba Kamonyi Cooperative) and Ira Company, a local agribusiness.
The team will continue their visit to @RubavuDistrict to further assess project progress and deepen connections with local stakeholders, mainly farmers.
We are honored to contribute to advancing sustainable agriculture and improving food security through collaborative, community-centered efforts.

No-dig gardening is a sustainable and low-effort gardening method that involves building up your garden beds without disturbing the soil.
This technique promotes soil health, reduces weed growth, and makes gardening easier by eliminating the need for tilling.
In the quest for sustainable and low-maintenance gardening methods, no-dig gardening has emerged as a revolutionary approach. This technique, also known as no-till or lasagna gardening, focuses on building up garden beds with layers of organic matter rather than disturbing the soil. By eliminating the need for tilling, no-dig gardening not only simplifies the gardening process but also enhances soil health, reduces weed growth, and conserves moisture. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a novice looking for an easier way to cultivate your garden, this guide will walk you through the principles, benefits, and practical steps of no-dig gardening.
What is No-Dig Gardening?
No-dig gardening is a method that involves creating and maintaining garden beds without digging or tilling the soil. Instead of disrupting the soil structure, gardeners build up the bed with layers of organic materials. This approach mimics natural processes where organic matter accumulates on the forest floor, breaking down over time to nourish the soil. The key components of no-dig gardening are:
Layering Organic Matter: Adding layers of compost, straw, leaves, and other organic materials to create a nutrient-rich environment for plants.
Avoiding Soil Disturbance: Keeping the soil intact and undisturbed to preserve its structure and microbial life.
Building Soil Fertility: Relying on natural decomposition of organic matter to enrich the soil and support healthy plant growth.
Benefits of No-Dig Gardening
Improved Soil Health:
No-dig gardening promotes the natural development of soil structure and microbial life. #OptimistFarmer
Today at @Imbuto offices, First Lady Mrs Jeannette Kagame received a delegation from Türkiye led by Mr Rahman Nurdun, Vice President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency @tika_english1, alongside Mr Aslan Alper Yüksel, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Rwanda. Their discussions focused on capacity building for job creation, youth empowerment, and health initiatives.
I visited PhenoMa Lab during #ASTA2025@UM6P_OFFICIEL.
#PhenomaLab is revolutionising agriculture.
This lab can:
✅ 6 growing seasons/year
✅ Pheno Mobile Robot for crop imaging, analysis, & gene mapping.
Aimed at creating resilient crop varieties for food security

During #ASTA2025 at @um6p, I learned from Prof. Tiago Tezotto (@adealq_usp) that as future leader, we must prioritize nutrition for quality produce!
Calcium & Boron are key to preventing fruit defects like blossom end rot in tomatoes.
Healthy soils =healthy crops =healthy life.
Did you know Brazil is the largest producer, exporter Arabica Coffee & second largest consumer market for coffee. It has a plural and diversified coffee culture, with many aromas and flavors originating from Arabica and robust crops, cultivated from north to south of the country.
During #ASTA2025, I had the opportunity to learn from Natalia Carr, ESG Manager, about how @cooxupe Cooperative in #Brazil has built a legacy of empowering smallholder coffee farmers founded in 1932 with over 17,000 farmers, focusing on sustainability, quality, and prosperity.
Thank you, @UR_CAVM, for the warm welcome! It was a pleasure to engage with such passionate students about the intersection of nature conservation, tourism, and sustainable entrepreneurship. Let's continue driving positive change for #People& #Nature by investing in young people!
This weekend, we concluded a training for children members of Eco-Clubs from our two new partner schools, GS Gasumo and Nyabigoma, in @RusiziDistrict. The focus was on discussing the environmental crisis as a child's rights crisis. 🌱

We are on day 2 of a 5-day training for 26 Community Tree Stewards (CTSs) in @RusiziDistrict
Today, we are focusing on agroforestry principles and community mobilisation skills.
Day 3: We engaged in discussions with the #CTCs about the principles of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning in #restoration projects.
We also explored the possibility of establishing a revolving fund to support their small-scale projects.
#Terrafund for AFR100.
Birds are nature's barometers in our landscape restoration journey. We're conducting a bird baseline survey to gauge ecosystem health and track our progress. We are grateful for the support of #TerraFund for #AFR100 in making this possible. 🐦🌿
