I never hear it before. It was common the battery would last at least 2/3 years before the battery suffer.
Putting low quality battery will speed up the process.

Bottom line: Do better, @Tesla. Before you tell a customer they need a $20k+ repair, maybe have someone with a better technical grasp of the systems review the issue first... or just train the techs better.
