#Whiteprivilege versus #blackprivilege when it comes to homeownership and how the #Biden helped change that.

In 2021 under the leadership of #President #JoeBiden and #VicePresident #KamalaHarris created the Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE) Task Force in 2021 to address racial bias in home appraisals, especially the undervaluation of homes owned by Black families. The task force developed a federal action plan that:

Increased oversight and enforcement of fair housing and fair lending laws.
Required stronger anti-bias training and guidance for appraisers.
Improved the process for homeowners to challenge unfair appraisals.
Worked to reduce discrimination in automated home valuation systems.
Encouraged greater diversity within the appraisal profession.

The goal was to help ensure Black homeowners receive fair and accurate home valuations, which can affect wealth building, refinancing, and home sales.

In 2025 #DonaldTrump rolled back and effectively dismantled many of the Biden-era Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE) initiatives that were created to address racial bias in home appraisals. #HUD and the Office of Management and Budget announced in 2025 that they were ending key PAVE policies, arguing they created unnecessary regulations and were tied to #DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs.

In other words Biden created PAVE to combat racial bias in home appraisals specifically for black homeowners; #Trump later rolled back many of its policies and effectively disbanded the task force.
