@CatShoshanna The man saying ‘Shema’ at the end right before he dies, truly remarkable. He sits down for a second to recite ‘Shema’ and then he collapses. The bond between the Jewish people and God is what makes my nation eternal.
@GabeZZOZZ I feel pretty good. This isn't the first time the world has hated us. My grandfather fled Russia because the Cossacks persecuted and killed Jews. My wife's grandfather survived the death camps in Europe. But unlike them, I have somewhere to stand my ground.
@clashreport Yes, the situation is terrible for arabs in Israel, they can't even ride the train!... Come on! I actually live here! My wife works at the hospital in Jerusalem, everyday she cares for Palestinian patients, stop spreading lies.
@delapilap@masuzafi “Death to America” has been explicitly clarified even by Khamenei as referring to US policies and leadership, not to the country’s borders or its people. And notably, the chant is often followed by “Death to Israel” as well
A guy from the UK is telling me that no other state in modern history has moved into another people's land. 🤣
This is coming from someone whose country built the largest empire in human history by doing exactly that. The British Empire colonized India, subjected it to centuries of exploitation, and engineered famines that killed millions. They carved up africa at the Berlin conference, drawing arbitrary borders with no regard for the people already living there. They colonized Australia and displaced aboriginal peoples who had inhabited the land. They settled in New Zealand, overriding the indigenous Maori. They took control of vast parts of North America, displacing countless Native nations. They occupied Ireland for centuries, suppressing its language, culture, and people. Ironically, they also drew the borders of the modern Middle East, including the borders of Israel and its neighbors often with little input from those who actually lived there.
And yet, the irony deepens, since jews are indigenous to Israel. The connection between the jewish people and the land of Israel is documented across thousands of years of history, archaeology, religious texts, and continuous presence. Jewish communities maintained ties to the land even through centuries of exile and dispersion. The modern state of Israel represents a return to an ancestral homeland, not a colonial project imposed from abroad.
So when someone from the UK, of all places, lectures about moving into "another people's land," the lack of self awareness is truly something to behold.
@johnkriordan@masuzafi What is a commonly chanted slogan that is interpreted as calling for the dissolution of the United States and the elimination of its sovereign territory?
@DavidBCollum Jews who were murdered on gas chambers were innocent, this is a death penalty for TERRORISM, it’s super simple, don’t be a terrorist, don’t get killed, see the difference? It’s pretty obvious
Actually, the PA has had a law for decades classifying the sale of land to Jews as treason, punishable by death. That law explicitly refers to ethnicity. By contrast, the new Israeli law doesn’t mention Palestinians at all, but of course you know they are the terrorists so you think it’s ethnicity-based.
It doesn’t justify it, but at least it shows that the PA specifically has death sentences for political/religious reasons (selling to a jew, not even a crime) and no one bats an eye, but if Israel wants to pass a law to have some deterrence to stop terrorists murdering civilians for decades, everyone starts overreacting
@johncusack Right, the issue is though that some individuals labeled as “journalists” have documented ties to Hamas, but acknowledging that undermines your cheap propaganda.
