Sometimes I isolate because I don’t want to dump my pain on anyone.
Other times I isolate because I feel like no one would notice anyway.
Both hurt.
And both come from the same place exhaustion.
Say exactly that.
99% of the time a client asks me, "How do I approach this conversation? Here's the context, and I feel terrible..." the answer is to literally to say that, so long as it is not self-excusing. When people gain insight into your well-intentioned internal process towards them - even if you struggle to "do the right thing in the situation" - they feel connected rather than ignored or slighted, and usually receive your intent for repair well.
Suicidal ideation, for many, isn’t about death.
It’s about relief.
From shame.
From feeling overwhelmed constantly. From feeling like a fucking burden.
The goal isn’t always “not wanting to be alive”
It’s just not wanting to live like this.
