@thenerdgirlf1 Girl get the stick up out of your ass, there is something seriously wrong with you that you have to hound random people, arguing over the hyperspecifics of wordage. I've stated over and over what I am talking about, and you continue to look for reasons to argue.
Quite frankly I know its people who don't even like romance who are arguing against the genre expectation of HEA. Would be wonderful if they stayed in their lane instead of changing the rules set for a genre by the people who actually read and write it.
@thenerdgirlf1 Dude this is what the entire conversation has been about. Publishing rules and definitions. The HAE defines the romance genre, and is published by this definition. You are looking for arguments for the sake of arguing.
@thenerdgirlf1 This is quite literally how it works in publishing, this is how romance is defined by the publishing industry. I don't know why you have such a tool up your ass about people stating this, but you're still wrong.
@thenerdgirlf1 Considering this entire conversation is about how the genre defined and the entire argument is how these books are defined and sold by the industry to readers, you are still wrong. Academia does not change how the actual publishing world works.
@thenerdgirlf1 In fact, most people who actually work in publishing will tell you that you're wrong as well. You're not going to change my mind, or other people's, and you're not going to change how it's defined by being obtuse on twitter.
@thenerdgirlf1 Nor are you the only person in the world to have studied literature, and it doesn't make you any more right in this specific debate. Many people with similar education will tell you this about the genre and how its published.
@thenerdgirlf1 Resending the same image doesn't change the fact that you're very much wrong. Romance Readers and writers are by and large who've come to decide the modern definition of Romance.
@thenerdgirlf1 It is actually the definition lol, by modern standards yeah a romance needs a HEA. it's not a romance without it, arguing is not going to change the fact this how it's defined by readers and the book publishing industry
@thenerdgirlf1 You can rant about it being a marketing push but words mean things and romance has come to be defined by specific conventions, such as the HEA. Most readers look for books under this genre with the expectation of a HEA.
@thenerdgirlf1 Yeah this still isn't correct. Romance as a whole concept, and the specific genre of romance as defined by romance readers and writers is not 100% the same. The term being used in marketing and advertising a certain way with certain expectations is valid.
@transsexual1ty@gorgomenteia Yes, and romance books are shelved with romance books. Books that do not meet the definition of a romance will not be shelved with romance books.
