Irene joined us as a PhD researcher last month! She's researching how sea ice and surface foam affect ocean #CO2 uptake. You can keep up with her PhD journey here 👉@iirenemcc
Un día empiezas una historia en tu casa porque te hace ilusión escribirle algo a tu mejor amiga y otro día años después le dedicas la que ahora es tu primera novela publicada (y lloráis, claro que lloráis mucho).
Last week, we said goodbye to our @ChemistryatYork placement student Irene Monreal Campos after a fantastic year. She worked alongside our chemistry team, while completing her own research project with us. She's heading off to start her PhD in atmospheric chemistry!
Ever wondered what's inside (and outside, and on top of*) our flying science laboratory? Explore our atmospheric research aircraft with a virtual tour!

*seriously, you can reach parts of the aircraft that even our scientists can't see in person
Our new study based on eddy covariance suggests strong CO2 uptake in the Southern Ocean. Much appreciated for all the co-authors, reviewers and colleagues who provided useful discussions. Science Advances https://t.co/e4D8TzDpLc
Do you use the SOCAT data and do you know the SOCAT data is in an alarming decline? If so, you may want to know the impact of this decline on the global ocean CO2 sink estimates.👇 @SOCAT_CO2@Dorothee_Bakker@gcarbonproject

Excited to share my debut at #EGU24 in Vienna! Presented my Master’s project on methane emissions sampled with @faam146. Met many inspiring scientists and learned about different fields. Hopefully, the first of many EGU conferences to come! 🌍🧪🛩️ @ChemistryatYork@AtmosScience
Our last but invited speaker @BerndJahne talking the possibility of using an annular wind wave tank and very small-scale imaging method to understand the gas exchange mechanisms. #EGU24@SOLAS_IPO
1400 flights, 5 continents, and 500 science studies - we’ve been flying high for 20 years! Now, we're strapping in for the next 20 years with an exciting upgrade to keep our research facility flying until 2040 and beyond ✈️

Our airborne lab @faam146 took to Scottish skies and measured #methane emissions from #peatlands.
The project was part of a scheme called Research Runway, which helps scientists use our research aircraft facility for the first time.

Good morning everyone
We will be helping Father Christmas navigate the global weather as he makes his way around the World...
...Look! He is currently leaving the North Pole 🎅
Did you catch us on @itvnews on Monday? Martha Fairlie spent a day flying with us and @MetOffice_Sci to find out more about #WesCon2023
