She understands her social responsibility and has trained several local communities and imparted her knowledge of primates and fieldwork and distributed supplies like sanitary napkins to girls in the remote Nicobar islands.

The committee also appreciates her leadership roles, in particularly within Women in Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy (WIPMA) Forum and 'reviving' Manthan.

Instituted in 2018, the IISER Mohali Alumni Association Leadership and Outreach Award recognises graduating students’— one BS-MS and one PhD/Int-PhD —leadership potential, efforts towards outreach and other extracurricular activities during their time at IISER Mohali.
