IITR Academic Unit || Special Seminar Class

The Academic Department of our Institute organized a seminar titled “Ibn Khaldun’s Philosophy of Society and Politics.”

More than 120 students from various universities and madrasas participated in the seminar. The presentation delivered by researcher and writer Burhan Uddin was followed with great interest by the attendees. The question-and-answer session that followed the presentation was particularly engaging and fruitful. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions directly, explore issues they were curious about, and benefit from diverse perspectives on the subject.

At the end of the program, certificates of participation were awarded to the students who attended the seminar. The event concluded successfully, providing a valuable platform for intellectual exchange and academic engagement.

আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউট আগামী ১২.০৬.২০২৬ তারিখ, রোজ শুক্রবার আয়োজন করতে যাচ্ছে ‘ইবনে খালদুনের সমাজ ও রাজনৈতিক দর্শন’ শীর্ষক সেমিনার ক্লাসের। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এ ক্লাসটি পরিচালনা করবেন বিশিষ্ট অনুবাদক এবং জ্ঞান ও সভ্যতাবিষয়ক গবেষক জনাব বুরহান উদ্দিন আজাদ।

শ্রদ্ধাভাজন আলোচকের ইবনে খালদুনকে নিয়ে দীর্ঘকাল অধ্যয়ন এবং মুসলিম উম্মাহর বড় বড় আলেম ও দার্শনিকদের নিকট থেকে সরাসরি দারস গ্রহণের সুবাদে এ আলোচনাটি বহুমাত্রিক হয়ে উঠবে বলে আমাদের বিশ্বাস।

The 17th edition of the “Seminar with an International Scholar” series, organized by the our Institute, was successfully held today at Dhaka University.
The keynote lecture, titled “Islamic Studies in the East and West: History, Reflections and the Future,” was delivered by renowned American hadith scholar and academic, Professor Dr. Jonathan A. C. Brown.
The program commenced with a welcome address by the Deputy Managing Director of the Institute, Kazi Salma Binte Salim. The Institute’s publications were also presented by the Publication Secretary, Saa’d Musanna, on behalf of the Publications Department.
The session concluded with an engaging open Q&A segment. Alongside the students of the Institute, distinguished faculty members from various universities were also in attendance.

ইসলামী সভ্যতার জ্ঞান ও চিন্তার নদীকে নতুনভাবে প্রবাহিত করার জন্য, জ্ঞান ও সভ্যতার পুনর্জাগরণের স্লোগানকে সামনে রেখে একটি উমরানী আন্দোলন হিসেবে আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউট তার যাত্রা শুরু করে। এ চিন্তার নহরকে আমরা বিবেচনা করেছি আসমান থেকে অবতীর্ণ হওয়া সে জাগ্রতকারী শক্তিরূপে, যা আরবের মরুভূমি থেকে বাংলার উষ্ণমণ্ডলীয় উপকূল পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত এক বিশাল ভূখণ্ডকে প্রাণ দিয়েছে। ভূমির পাশাপাশি কলবকেও জাগরিত করেছে এবং অসংখ্য সভ্যতার প্রতিষ্ঠার কেন্দ্রবিন্দু হিসেবে কাজ করেছে।

এ যাত্রায় আমরা সর্বাগ্রে প্রাধান্য দিয়েছি, আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষগণের প্রচেষ্টার সিলসিলাকে, যারা এ রহমতের ধারার উপমহাদেশীয় পূর্ব শাখার ধারক ও বাহক হিসেবে ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন, হিকমতকে অগ্রাধিকার দিয়ে এবং ইরশাদকে কেন্দ্রস্থলে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করে এক নবজাগরণের সূচনা ঘটিয়েছেন। জ্ঞান, সৌন্দর্য ও আদালতের মাধ্যমে নতুন একটি জীবনধারা বিনির্মাণ করেছেন।

ইন্সটিটিউট হিসেবে আমাদের মূল প্রচেষ্টা ছিলো- আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের আহ্বানকে অনুধাবন করা ও ধারণ করা। এ আহ্বান খুবই সুস্পষ্ট, আর তা হলো “ইসলাম কেবল একটি বিশ্বাসের নাম নয়, ইসলাম একই সঙ্গে বিনির্মাণের প্রচেষ্টার নাম’। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি পুনর্জাগরণ শুধু কথা কিংবা দাওয়াতের মাধ্যমে সম্ভবপর নয়, একই সঙ্গে সে প্রচেষ্টাকে আখলাক ও আদালতের মাধ্যমে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করতে হবে। এ প্রতিনিধিত্বের দায়িত্ব পালনের জন্যই আমরা আমাদের কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করে যাচ্ছি।

আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউট শুধুমাত্র একটি গবেষণাধর্মী প্রতিষ্ঠান-ই নয়, একই সাথে তা সভ্যতার পুনর্জাগরণের জন্য একটি আন্দোলন হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশ করেছে। আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউট যুবকদের মধ্যে উসূল ও আখলাকের মাধ্যমে সমৃদ্ধ ও সজ্জিত জ্ঞানের একটি দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি তুলে ধরার জন্য আমরা একাডেমিক, গবেষণা ও প্রকাশনা কার্যক্রম চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি। আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউট শুধুমাত্র যিহিনই নয়, কলব ও জীবনকেও স্পর্শ করার চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আমাদের এ আন্দোলন সমাজসেবামূলক কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে জ্ঞানকে বিবেকের সাথে মিলিত করেছে।

ইন্সটিটিউট নিজেকে কীভাবে সংজ্ঞায়ন ও ব্যাখ্যা করে, কোন বিষয়গুলোকে সামনে রেখে আমরা আমাদের কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করছি এ বিষয়গুলো উপস্থাপিত হয়েছে ইন্সটিটিউট পরিচিতিতে। ‘মানুষের ইসলাহ, সমাজের ইহইয়া এবং দুনিয়ার ইমার’- এর উদ্দেশ্যকে সামনে রেখে আমরা আমাদের সার্বিক কার্যক্রম ও পন্থাকে তুলে ধরেছি। মানুষের সম্মান ও মর্যাদাকে প্রাধান্য দিয়ে সমাজকে জ্ঞান, ফজিলত, পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার ভিত্তিতে শক্তিশালী করা এবং প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি ও প্রজন্মের আধ্যাত্মিক ও জাগতিক বিকাশকে নিশ্চিত করা আমাদের মৌলিক উদ্দেশ্য।

এ উদ্দেশ্যকে বাস্তবায়ন করার জন্য মারহামাত, আদালত, আখলাক এবং জ্ঞানের নির্দেশনায় প্রণীত মূলনীতির আলোকে পথ চলে থাকি। মূলনীতিসমূহকে কেন্দ্রে রেখে আমরা যে মূল্যবোধভিত্তিক পন্থা গড়ে তুলেছি, তা কোনো সংগঠনের কর্মসূচি নয়, আবার কোনো রাজনৈতিক দলের ইশতেহারও নয়। আমরা এসকল মূলনীতির ভিত্তিতে কোনো আন্দোলন নয়, বরং একটি আখলাকী অবস্থান গড়ে তুলতে চাই; কোনো ক্ষমতার কাঠামো নয়, বরং একটি সেবাধর্মী চেতনা প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে চাই; এবং কোনো গোষ্ঠীগত পরিচয় নয়, বরং মানবিক চেতনা ও মূল্যবোধের একটি সুদৃঢ় ভিত্তি নির্মাণ করতে চাই। ফলত, আমাদের এ পথ কোনো মূলনীতিবিহীন আবেগের প্রকাশ নয়; বরং তা আমাদের সভ্যতার সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত মূল্যবোধ দ্বারা সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে নির্মিত এক সচেতন চেতনার বহিঃপ্রকাশ। আমাদের কার্যক্রম তাওহীদুল উলুম থেকে শুরু করে উসূল ও মাকাসিদ, আখলাক ও মূল্যবোধ, রাজনীতি ও অর্থনীতি, আন্তর্জাতিক রাজনীতি এবং সমাজ ও সংস্কৃতির মত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ক্ষেত্রসমূহ পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত।

২০২০ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে প্রায় ছয় বছরব্যাপী ইসলামী চিন্তা ও গবেষণা ইন্সটিটিউট তার কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করে আসছে। প্রশ্ন আসতে পারে, এতদিন পর ইন্সটিটিউট পরিচিতি কেন?

এক্ষেত্রে মৌলিক বিষয় হলো; এটি সম্পূর্ণতই ইন্সটিটিউট নিজেকে কীভাবে সংজ্ঞায়িত করে এবং ইন্সটিটিউটের প্রতিষ্ঠা ও কার্যক্রমের দর্শন তুলে ধরে। বাংলাদেশের এ প্রেক্ষিতে আমাদের ইন্সটিটিউটের ন্যায় প্রতিষ্ঠান তৈরি হওয়া কেন অপরিহার্য ছিলো, এবং বিদ্যমান কোনো দল-গোষ্ঠী-ধারা কেন এই প্রয়োজন পূরণ করতে পারবেনা, পাঠকেরা এ বিষয়টি এর মাধ্যমে স্পষ্টভাবে অনুধাবন করতে পারবেন ইনশাআল্লাহ। আমাদের অভিজ্ঞতা ও যাত্রার মধ্য দিয়ে আমরা ধাপেধাপে শিখে ইন্সটিটিউট পরিচিতি হাজির করেছি। ফলত, এটি নিছক তাত্ত্বিক কোনো কাজ নয়, একইসাথে আমাদের অভিযাত্রারও আখ্যান।

Topic: Islamic Studies in the East and West: History, Reflections and the Future

The Institute of Islamic Thought and Research (IITR) is pleased to announce an upcoming international seminar on the theme “Islamic Studies in the East and West: History, Reflections and the Future.” The seminar aims to explore the historical development of Islamic studies across diverse intellectual traditions, critically reflect on its evolving methodologies, and examine future trajectories within an increasingly interconnected global academic landscape.

Since its establishment, the Institute of Islamic Thought and Research has been actively working to strengthen the intellectual and academic ties between Bangladesh and leading centers of knowledge around the world by inviting distinguished scholars and eminent thinkers from diverse international backgrounds. This initiative seeks to foster meaningful scholarly exchange and promote a deeper understanding across academic traditions.

As part of this ongoing effort, the Institute is organizing the above-mentioned international seminar at the University of Dhaka. The event will feature the participation of the American hadith scholar and Intellectual, Professor Dr. Jonathan A. C. Brown.

The seminar will be chaired by the Honourable Managing Director of the Institute of Islamic Thought and Research, Hasan Al Firdaus. Distinguished vice-chancellors and faculty members from various universities will also grace the occasion as guests.
All are cordially invited to attend this international academic seminar.

আমাদের প্রকাশনাসমূহ বহুমাত্রিকভাবে উপস্থাপন করার ক্ষেত্রে আমাদের একটি লক্ষ্য হলো 'বহুভাষিক প্রকাশনানীতি'। ইসলামী সভ্যতার চিন্তার নদীতে নতুনভাবে নাব্যতা আনার জন্য আমরা ক্রমাগত প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি।

বহুভাষিক প্রকাশনানীতি অবলম্বনের কারণ হলো আমরা মুসলিম উম্মাহর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চিন্তাগত সৃষ্টিগুলোকে বাংলা ভাষাভাষী পাঠকদের সামনে নতুনভাবে হাজির করতে চাই। এ কারণে ভাষার সীমানা পেরিয়ে ইসলামী সভ্যতার সামগ্রিক চিন্তাকে ধারণকারী গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গ্রন্থগুলোর সুবিশাল ও সমৃদ্ধ জগতকে বাংলা ভাষাভাষী মানুষ পরিচিত করানোর জন্য আমরা কাজ করছি।

ইসলামী সভ্যতার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গ্রন্থসমূহগুলো অনুবাদের পাশাপাশি উম্মতের সাথে সম্পর্ক তৈরির জন্য আরবী ও ইংরেজি ভাষায়ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রকাশনা আনার জন্য আমরা কাজ করে যাচ্ছি।

On 12 March 2026, the Islamic Thought and Research Institute hosted a book unveiling ceremony for two new publications from its Publication Department, in a gathering that brought together young scholars and distinguished guests from various places. Alhamdulillah.

The books unveiled are:

1. Revival of Knowledge and Methodology
Prof. Dr. Tahsin Görgün
Translated by: Burhan Uddin Azad

2. Maqasid al-Shariah: What and Why
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali
Translated by: Ali Morshed Sani

The ceremony was graced by Emeritus Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman, former Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Dhaka and Vice-Chancellor of Global University, as the chief guest. Notably, he was a classmate of Prof. Dr. Hashim Kamali—the author of Maqasid al-Shariah: What and Why—and has participated alongside him in various international academic forums.

Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Iktedar Hossain, researcher at Aligarh Muslim University (Delhi), Amimul Ihsan Amim, Senior Officer at Dhaka Residential Model College, and poet Abid Azam, along with other guests and readers. Their presence contributed to a vibrant and intellectually engaging gathering.
