If this was Ronaldo’s last game for Portugal, he leaves having played most international games in history (233), scored most international goals (146), and become the only man to score in SIX different World Cups. Congrats, @cristiano - you’ve done your country & family so proud.
@Abu_The_Truth Nigeria was not a republic at time of our independence.
He was being sworn in as a Governor General serving as the representative of the Queen of England who was still our Head of State.
That's facts we shouldn't be distorting because of politics.
We became a republic in 1963

This young woman, who lives in Belfast, really wants her truth to be heard. Please take the time to listen to her very wise & powerful speech about what is ‘really’ going on, despite what some parties & people are portraying. Please share after so her message gets out.
If I wanted to maintain my current standard of living, but in Nigeria, it would cost too much to be realistic.
Nigerian prices are way too expensive in USD terms despite having such a devalued currency, and I don't understand how everyone is quiet.
That country is stupidly expensive for no reason at all🤷🏾
Back in the day, I had a friend from Liberia.
Her parents were upper-middle-class and lived in Monrovia.
She said they woke one day to find rebels at the doorstep of Monrovia, and there was a mad dash to the airport. She said a country had sent planes to evacuate its citizens from Liberia, but the Liberians were buying the seats on those planes to escape.
Her parents could only afford to send her; she never saw them again.
I asked, “This war didn't start in one day; why didn't you leave earlier?”
She said, “We simply heard about an attack here and there and never assumed it would come to Monrovia.”
"Mandela Tax" was a relief fund set up by the Nigerian Government in 1976 to help South Africans during apartheid. Civil servants contributed 2% of their monthly salaries to the fund. Millions of dollars were raised in the first few months and used to support the ANC and exiles.

Story time 😭😭
So we went to Nigeria last Christmas. Around October, we bought our tickets from Lagos to Asaba because we had an event. About 350k one way per person, so roughly 1.4M for a family of four.(Global Pricing 😩😩).
We get to the airport on time, check in, no issues. Cool.
Then it’s time to board and suddenly we just hear people screaming “Lagos Asaba! Lagos Asaba!” Like motor park 😭😭 The terminal was PACKED. At this point I’m wondering what kind of aircraft is carrying all these people.
They start loading us into buses to take us to the plane. As JJCs we are struggling to even enter bus 😭 Eventually we enter the last bus.
We get to the plane and immediately we climb the stairs, the air hostesses just start shouting:
“Find seat anywhere!”
“No seat allocation!”
I said ah 😭😭
So we squeeze ourselves to the back because the plane is already basically full.
My husband starts gisting with the air hostesses, just joking around, asking what exactly is going on. That’s when they drop the first bomb.
Apparently there were THREE flights going to Asaba at the exact same time and the airline got overwhelmed, so people were basically just entering any aircraft 😭😭
Meaning the flight you checked into and the actual plane you boarded were two different things entirely.
Manifest? Boarding system? Otilor
We’re already laughing in disbelief when they drop the second bombshell.
The flight is not even flying again 😭😭
The airline had oversold ALL the flights combined and there were about 36 passengers left without seats. Since ours was the last aircraft, we had to wait to see if a bigger plane would come from Abuja to carry the remaining people.
About 5–10 minutes later the pilot comes on and confirms everything they said 😭
Another 15 minutes later they tell everybody to come down from the plane.
No direction.
No announcement.
Nothing.
We are just standing on the tarmac under the sun around 9am like refugees 😭😭
Then the crew casually walks off.
As we’re standing there confused, I turn and see some of the ground crew making content 😭😭 One person filming, another person dramatically walking down the aircraft stairs, touching the plane, posing… meanwhile actual passengers are stranded on the tarmac with zero information.
My husband just looked at me and said:
“Nigeria is a failed experiment.”
😭😭😭😭
Honestly that sentence finished me.
Eventually after standing there for another 10 minutes a bus comes to carry us to another flight and we finally get to Asaba safely.
But honestly the level of dysfunction in that country is not normal. The craziest part is everybody behaves like this chaos is completely standard.

When they decide to proceed with the infrastructure, they tend to overcost it.
This is one of the reasons China ceased funding infrastructure requests from 234
