But that’s the cost of challenging a long standing legacy. It’s often an uphill battle for the challenger and it’s not equal because they aren’t equals. Social equity is huge here and Drake severely miscalculates his standing amongst the jury of his peers & fans, imo you’re rewarding him for that. Like I said, LeBron, Brady, Kanye and even Jay himself werent afforded that luxury. They challenged legacy with excellence that won ppl over and their seemly unfair climb is what makes the top spot so valuable. Anything else is cheapening the seat. I think he’s extremely capable but his initial approach failed but he’s a student of the game. If you really wanna be the king, you reload and attack again 💯

I guess I can respect that perspective, I think of them as high lvl competitors who do not need that sort of protection. Nobody protected LeBron as he chased the legacy of Kobe & Jordan, nobody felt bad for Peyton manning when Tom Brady was whoopin his ass. I can’t imagine someone like him needs to be afforded that kind of support at the highest level of this art form, I’m not into making the crown weigh less so to speak

I mean my point was that you are trying to normalize it because you aren’t capable of disproving it. I wouldn’t draw an equivalence from Drake to Jay either because the sentiment has always been different no matter the overlaps and the sentiment is part of what draws the criticism on Drake for many folks (using an art form specifically created for black activism & expression, for commerce exclusively - his entire discography has become cultural exploitation index)
