Dear Prime Minister Ambani,
Please accept my humble apologies for not realizing that you are the real boss of India.
Naturally, you would prefer to maintain your monopolistic exploitation of the great people of India, but would you nonetheless consider allowing Starlink to compete?
There are many areas of India, as there are in all countries, with no Internet access, which denies children the opportunity for education and for small businesses the opportunity to sell their goods to a global market. Starlink would change their lives for the better.
Thank you 🙏
1,020 reported rape cases in Delhi this September alone and counting.
Read that number again.
If this isn't a national emergency, what is?
What is CM Rekha Gupta doing?
Women's safety in India is an absoluteb sick joke and nobody gives a damn.
If a reputed college like Lady Shri Ram in Delhi has to resort to online lessons because a heinous rape of a 17 year old minor unfolded just outside its precincts then where are women actually safe in India's capital city or have we learnt nothing from the blood curdling Nirbhaya incident of 2012?!!!
Rapes and violent attacks on women have escalated so rapidly in Delhi that it has been normalised in the media narrative!
There is a grudging acceptance that Delhi will always be Delhi a.k.a a city of reckless men where all women are fair, and might I add, easy targets.
I am genuinely tired of listening to this wretched ghastly trope!
Crime happens because women's safety is
NOT a priority for any government which is in power and if I am not mistaken then @AtishiAAP, Delhi's former CM and is now the serving MLA from Kalkaji, the scene of the crime! Her government did nothing and the current government headed by @gupta_rekha has also been caught clearly napping!
Women's safety was a crippling issue even when I first started at St Stephen's College 28 years ago with memories of men chasing me down the Ridge in North Campus recklessly on bikes as I took a cycle rickshaw to get to my PG (across the simian infested ridge!) where I lived in at 4pm in the evening still sends shivers down my spine!
Being eve teased by men at all time of night or day was par for the course and somehow this all got normalised in Delhi's expanse as a city and with our tacit acceptance to boot!
In 28 years nothing has changed and today the sceptre of violence in Delhi has a whole new target - minor girls!
Just look at barely the week's statistics:
On September 10, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and killed in Swaroop Nagar. Her body was found in a field on the intervening night of September 12 and 13, and four people, including three juveniles, were apprehended.
On September 16, a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a shop in Sadar Bazar after she went there to buy stationery.
On September 21, a six-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Kishanganj, with a 34-year-old man taken into custody. Delhi has precipitously gotten more and more dangerous for women and girls everywhere and no single area or locality is particularly safe! Each is as unsafe as the other. The other worrying fact is that the perpetrators of these crimes against women are getting younger themselves! A large number of them are in fact, juvenile boys themselves, which is exceptionally worrying because prosecuting criminals under the juvenile framework is a legal nightmare in itself. These crimes happen because there is no high-visibility deterrence for crimes against women and girls anywhere in the country, least of all Delhi! Most people in Delhi will tell you in resigned tones 'When Delhi is this unsafe for girls; they should know better than go out at night'! It is this tacit acceptance that NOTHING can or will change in Delhi that has relegated women's safety to the back burner of priorities for the longest time for all governments in charge regardless of the colour of their convictions - be it saffron, white or blue! No amount of getting a 'pink police' force specifically for women or protest marches or candlelight vigils will help if basic attitudes towards the safety of women and girls aren't sufficiently revised! Also, porting over to online lessons just because our roads or public spaces aren’t safe enough for our girls isn’t Unless high-visibility deterrence is put in place and actually followed through, history will be doomed to repeat itself without fail on a loop and headlines such as this will regularly be part of an endless cycle of 'breaking news'! A state has a fundamental duty of care towards its citizens be it men or women. Protecting their rights is no favour done to the citizenry. It is but what they were elected to do in the first place!!

I have always found so much comfort in watching a movie by myself or going shopping by myself.
Spending time with oneself, doing recreational stuff and letting one’s hair down without needing company is really a great learning.
