Mr. El Fali stated that at @OCPGroup we believe the private sector plays a central role in this transformation.
Coordination and partnership among private sector, financial institutions, research institutions & NGOs with a shared commitment to science-based approaches are vital.
Honored to meet His Excellency, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and discuss sustainable agricultural growth in Kenya! @ilifali 🤝 Thank you for the insightful exchange on empowering farmers with OCP’s innovative solutions. #CustomizedFertilizers#OCPGroup
Kenya is on track to deepen its agricultural transformation through strategic collaboration with the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), Morocco’s leading state-owned phosphate and fertilizer powerhouse.
While visiting OCP’s headquarters in Casablanca, I engaged in productive discussions with Mr. Iliass El Fali, OCP Group Managing Director for Corporate Strategy, and Mr. Mohamed Hettiti, CEO of OCP Africa. At the heart of our talks was the urgent need to accelerate plans to establish a fertilizer blending plant in Kenya, an initiative poised to significantly lower input costs and enhance yields for Kenyan farmers.
OCP Africa reaffirmed its commitment to quality by unveiling a robust packaging innovation: heavy-duty, moisture-resistant Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) bags designed to preserve fertilizer integrity and combat the spread of counterfeit products.
This partnership is a step forward in ensuring Kenyan soils receive customized, high-quality nutrients, tailored for our unique tropical conditions, while advancing food security and empowering farmers.

Morocco has the largest phosphate reserves in the world – making it one of the most important countries for food supply. But these minerals are also crucial for decarbonization. CNBC visited a phosphate mine close to Marrakesh to understand the importance of this commodity.
The threat of #FoodSecurity has never been greater. But Africa has real potential to transform into an agricultural powerhouse.
I spoke to @CNBC on @ocpgroup's plans to launch this transformation and the crucial role that phosphate fertilizers will play.

Last week’s World Bank annual meetings were inspiring. But the time to act on #FoodSecurity and #SustainableAgriculture is now. I spoke to The Africa Report on how @ocpgroup is making a real difference, with the support of blended finance, AI and technology:
"200,000 tonnes.
That's how much #GreenAmmonia we're working to produce in 2026 as the first phase of our project. Not only will this offer the opportunity to test new technologies for future projects, but it will enhance the competitiveness of #GreenHydrogen," said Mr. El Fali
He added, "International cooperation has never been more important for advancing progress in #GreenHydrogen. OCP is actively collaborating with companies along the green hydrogen value chain to establish an ecosystem that drives project success and ensures competitiveness".
"We aim to produce 1M tons of #GreenAmmonia annually by 2027 and 3M tons by 2032 to ensure full use of green ammonia in our fertilizers," explained Mr. @ilifali#CleanEnergy#GreenEnergy
Yesterday, Mr. Iliass El Fali, Managing Director of Corporate Strategy, Sustainability, and Innovation, presented our Green Industrial program, focusing on #GreenAmmonia and #GreenHydrogen, during @OCPGroup Roadshow in Boston.
We aim to produce 200,000 tons of #GreenAmmonia by 2026, one million tons over the next four years before ramping up production to reach a total of three million tons by 2032. This ambitious plan will enable us to ensure 100% use of green ammonia in our products.
