The first reported case of COVID-19 in Ireland was announced exactly one year ago today.
Since then there have been 331,337 cases reported in the island.
Here’s what the last 12 months look like – watch out for how quickly things change in January.

Belmullet (Co. Mayo) makes the lowest 25 list, however just to the south, Westport makes it into the top 25.

COVID rates in Local Areas. The rate has:
➡️Increased in 169 areas
➡️No change in 6 area
➡️Lower in 71 areas

The highest rates are still in the North - only 4 areas in the top 25 are not in NI.

Generally speaking, the further south you go, the lower the rates are.

Some of the lowest rates are around Cork, Kerry, Tipperary.

➡️Stayed the same in 15 areas
➡️Fallen in 55 areas

The highest areas are generally in the North, around Derry/Donegal and southern parts of Co Down.
