Ele latiu por dois dias entre os escombros, não para pedir socorro, mas para protegê-la.

Durante dois dias inteiros, em meio à poeira, às ruínas e ao silêncio deixado por um terremoto, latidos puderam ser ouvidos sob os destroços. No início, os socorristas acreditaram que havia uma pessoa presa ali. Porém, ao chegarem mais perto, encontraram um Golden Retriever coberto de terra, abrigando com o próprio corpo uma gata gravemente ferida.

O cachorro não estava preso. Ele poderia ter saído a qualquer momento. Mesmo assim, escolheu permanecer ali, protegendo-a do frio, do perigo e da solidão.

Eles eram os únicos sobreviventes da casa: dois dias juntos, duas vidas agarradas uma à outra em meio à destruição.

Se ainda há quem diga que os animais não sentem, talvez essa história faça repensar.
Isso não é apenas instinto, é amor.

Shigeo Fukuda was born in Tokyo in 1932 and graduated from the Department of Design at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1956. He has served as vice-chairman of the Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA) and is a member of both the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) and the Royal Designers for Industry. His work has been showcased in solo exhibitions at notable venues such as the IBM Gallery in New York, the Asia Museum in San Francisco, and the Museum of Modern Art in Quimper, France.
