At around 7.10 pm, the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan were returning from a protest at Connaught Place—they had released a balloon into the air calling for Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. Six women, including a minor, as well as a journalist were detained by the police and taken to the Mandir Marg Police Station. They described being groped, scratched and pulled with force, and their clothes torn. The women journalist said women constables broke her mic and ignored her press card, saying such cards “can be made for Rs 300.” The police said they will not be let go unless they give their names and details, but the women refused, saying they were detained illegally after dark and were not required to do so. The women journalist was let go after lawyers arrived on the spot, at around 8.45 pm. As of 9.30 pm, the detainees were not yet released as the police were insisting on collecting their personal details.
The police eventually let them go only at 9.50 pm, after a senior male lawyer came to speak to the police.

The Delhi Police detained and brutally beat up The Caravan’s assistant multimedia producer, Ryan Thomas, on 11 October. Ryan was covering the protests against Gyanesh Kumar and SIR, which the government has tried to quash with an unprecedented police mobilisation in the capital, with multiple trains and metros halted, and with internet shut down across central Delhi.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had directed that, among other things, journalists “shall not be hindered in discharge of their professional duties in any manner whatsoever.” Police tried to seize Ryan phone and force him to delete footage he had recorded.

Deeply concerned by reports that Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka remain in custody, with no warrant shown and no access to lawyers or contact with their families. Abhijeet’s grandmother has passed away, yet he has reportedly not even been allowed a call home.
This is unacceptable. We demand their immediate release without further delay. Abhijeet must be allowed to be with his family at this time of grief.

India’s Cockroach Janta Party founder and other top leaders have allegedly been detained after landing in New Delhi to lead a mass protest against election panel chief Gyanesh Kumar.
BIG: Abhijit Dipke @abhijeet_dipke@AshutoshRanka@SauravDassss picked up and detained from the flight itself on landing in Delhi.. a JCB being used to kill a few cockroaches?
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “accepted defeat” even before the agitation at Jantar Mantar against CEC Gyanesh Kumar begins. In a sharp post on X shortly before boarding his flight at the Mumbai airport, Mr. Dipke wrote that the shutdown of Delhi and crackdown on supporters were “not signs of strength”, but of a leader terrified of his own people.

From buses, trains, streets and houses the Delhi Police is detaining citizens without any grounds.
First, the complete shutdown of the capital, now the detention and barricading of every citizen in the capital, and those on their way.
They tell you they're not afraid, they tell you the protest will be a flop. The truth is out for all to see.
Jantar Mantar 2.0 is on!
Mumbai Police has detained my Associate and vice president of Human Rights Bharat Ke Log and are taking him to MiDC Police Station. #hum_Azad_Hai_Mister.
The Dictator is using “shock and awe” tactics to scare and intimidate the citizens of India. Indians will not be scared any more.
Gandhi, Ambedkar and Nehru are standing behind us. They enshrined the right to vote.
Gyanesh Kumar can’t take it away!
Gyaanu Gaddar Must Resign!
Government of India restricted @abhijeet_dipke’s video on X almost immediately after it was posted.
This is the video the Government of India doesn’t want you to see.
