A three‑month pilot in a Midwestern bottling plant shows what happens when AI moves beyond chat and into decision-making, where constraints shift, stakes are real, and answers must hold. https://t.co/sDGaEXepa8
Designing AI isn’t just about performance. It’s about tradeoffs that affect people and the planet. In “The Shape of Things to Come,” hear Doug Burger, Amy Luers, and Ishai Menache on why applying AI responsibly may be key to addressing the climate crisis. https://t.co/dUa4OgUHO9
In Episode 2 of "The Shape of Things to Come," sustainability leader Amy Luers and optimization expert Ishai Menache join Doug Burger to explore AI's role in climate, from datacenter emissions to energy optimization and sustainability at scale. https://t.co/RcaHkdXdsO
Microsoft has been awarded the 2026 Franz Edelman Award, one of the most prestigious honors in operations research and analytics. The team’s work represents a breakthrough in large-scale optimization and generative AI for the cloud. https://t.co/FRVACK7Xmx

phi-3 is here, and it's ... good :-).
I made a quick short demo to give you a feel of what phi-3-mini (3.8B) can do. Stay tuned for the open weights release and more announcements tomorrow morning!
(And ofc this wouldn't be complete without the usual table of benchmarks!)
Here's something @BehluliLedjon & I have been working on: locality-aware repartitioning for @msftorleans! It shuffles grains between nodes in the cluster to reduce cross-network calls, resulting in 30% to 110% throughput improvements in early benchmarks.
Looking forward to meeting folks at #mlsys'23 this week. Our paper on VM allocation with lifetime predictions will be presented on TUE (outstanding paper award recipient). https://t.co/4cp5IOgnsL
