18.11.2024: ADC (Skill) Twahir Alam handed over offer letters from various companies to 39 candidates under the @asdm_social (#ASDM). These candidates were trained through the #PLSDTP training program at the Rangapara center of Vivo Skills & Training in Sonitpur.

Organised by the District Jail authorities and @asdm_social , the program serves as a means to rehabilitate the inmates and facilitate their smooth reintegration into the society after their release.

Today, I visited Lakhimpur District Jail with Hon'ble Assam Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu to inaugurate the Skill Development Centre, established under the Assam Skill Development Mission. We also distributed sweets to both men and women prisoners in celebration of Independence Day.

We hope that the prisoners will enhance their skills through this centre and improve their future prospects, ultimately reintegrating successfully into society.

Attended the first Meeting of the Institute Management Committee (IMC) of L&T’s Construction Skill Training Centre (CSTC) at Gogamukh and reviewed training work of the Centre. There are 150 seats in Bar Bender & Steel Fixer, Plumber, Scaffolding, Mason and Tiling. Admission is going on currently and new training session will commence from 15 July.

Ten years ago, I mentored a college dropout boy from Sivasagar in skill training in the Hospitality sector. He worked as a waiter at a hotel in Guwahati and studied at IHM. Today, I received a message that he has joined the world’s Largest Shipping company, MSC CRUISE LINE, as a Senior Cabin Steward. Now, he is travelling all around the European countries (Mediterranean Sea) and earning Rs. 3 lakhs per month.
