@A_bar_of_clay The FDA needs to take action by regulating the quality and safety of the produce that they allow onto the shelves in the first place, and I think that preventative measures would be more effective than a complete recall
@A_bar_of_clay I agree, I think in this case Trump must take the interests of the American people into account and try to reach a mutually beneficial compromise, one that avoids war or another major conflict if possible. He was elected president and must live up to that by representing us well.
@_sleepykat_ Although scientists generally agree that the Earth's environment had reached the "point of no return", ecological rescue is still extremely important for our's and our planet's future. I applaud Australia for prioritizing those funds.
This is a breakthrough in the #MeToo movement for a man so well regarded previous to his accusations to actually be held accountable for his actions. How do you think this will affect other survivors of sexual assault/harassment coming forward and other verdicts? #mchslang19 https://t.co/yFpaQASS7D
@austinr2019@FailingLang Demonstrations and protests always draw the anger of what they protest against, and unfortunately events like this occur sometimes, but that is the exact reason that movements like this are needed: to dismantle the culture that allows it and advocate for reform
@laurenmcookie What we consider to be "normal" is defined by the majority of society, and I think that hiding aspects of ourselves in order to be accepted by our peers is a product of the social dynamic that ostracizes those who stray from the norm.
@laurenmcookie There must be regulations regarding the intervention into athletes' health, but such in depth interventions should be prohibited under the protection of personal privacy.
@swimmingscoobs As big as an issue that bullying is with American teens, the biggest cause for school shootings is people's access to guns. and the best way to reduce gun related violence is to limit who has access to guns.
@cherrycerise__ The US has often acted as the "police force" of the world, straying far from isolationist policies to take control of foreign affairs, but when people are fleeing dangerous conditions that the US has in some cases caused or ignored, they are rejected. Something needs to change.
@austinr2019 I completely agree, I think that judging women based on their personal choices just perpetuates unhealthy competition and elevates the standards they are held to in order to be respected
@Sophia_p16 I don't believe that it is the "job" of actors to bring attention to social issues, but I think it's great that some are using their status and position to advocate for people and things that may not be able to.
@Sophia_p16 This reminds me of the "Self-Driving Car versus manually driven" debate where most people questioned the capabilities of such technology, but I think that the question of who would be able to afford this option and how it would stratify the effects of childcare/ upbringing
@Sophia_p16 This is the exact type of thing that public work taxes are intended to fund, because they are public construction projects that benefit the population. This cost is rather steep however, and private donations or funding would relieve some of the strain on the budget.
@Sophia_p16 Although the idea is intended to protect students, there are definitely better steps to take before this one that would be more effective and more relevant to safety of students.
@Sophia_p16 I think this has very interesting implications, not just for African Americans, but for evolution and biology in general. How much of a factor could our past be in the way our societies work? How entire systems like capitalism or socialism or communism have been established?
@_sleepykat_ Seeing such a major publication acknowledging the struggle these women have been through, and the bravery required to share their stories, marks a transition in women's treatment in society.
This satirical cartoon perfectly encapsulates a common attitude towards the environment, where some people say care about the state of our Earth on days like Earth Day, but at the same time only worsen it. How can we change the tune so people prioritize the environment? #mchslang https://t.co/FXPChxYhGj
This brings up a very interesting point of whether action like this should be institutional or social, where the emphasis would be on the culture that allows this type of behavior to continue. #starbucksboycott#mchslang19 https://t.co/uipvCbvj8B
@laurenmcookie If employers were required to pay their employees a livable wage, tips wouldn't be necessary to supplement their income, and people in the food service industry wouldn't have to make sacrifices for tips.
@laurenmcookie With the new scandal or controversy about Trump emerging every other week, I think the people have become desensitized to his actions that would normally have led to serious repercussions. At this point, humorists capatalize on the ever growing ammunition that Trump provides.
