A new immersive 3D viewing system at the World Cup just showed how the next generation of sports technology plans to make money.
The teams behind it had not actually relied on old broadcast advertising models alone. They built something that creates multiple layers of value from the same experience.
Fans saw the bird's eye views, player follow modes and first-person perspectives and assumed the main opportunity was simply charging viewers for better replays. It was not.
The real system works on several levels at once. A freemium app gives basic immersion for free to grow the audience quickly, while dedicated fans pay a subscription for full control, unlimited player spotlighting, saved personal broadcasts and deeper performance analytics.
At the same time the core AI and imaging platform is licensed directly to leagues, clubs and traditional broadcasters so they can sell premium packages to their own audiences.
The detailed movement and tactical data generated in every match is packaged and sold to coaching staffs and scouting departments that need insights beyond standard statistics. Brands can sponsor specific viewing modes or integrated moments inside the experience without breaking the feeling of immersion.
This week the first commercial deals built on this model are already being discussed as more stadiums roll out the technology.
The old way was selling one broadcast feed and hoping the ad slots would cover everything.
The new way is owning the immersive layer that fans, teams, leagues and brands all want access to. It lets them capture value from each of them through different channels at the same time.
BBC’nin bu 3D maç deneyimi harika. Maçı istediğiniz oyuncunun gözünden izleyip, anlık istatistiklere ve oyuncu bazlı ısı haritalarına çok iyi görsellerle ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Taktik işine düşkün bir arkadaşına göndermelik.

For the first time, all of the matches in this World Cup can be watched from any imaginable angle, thanks to the BBC's World Cup 3D Experience.
@FootballCliches tests the technology by re-living key moments through the eyes of Lionel Messi, Sadio Mane and more.

36 years on, despite it not being entirely clear who and what it's for, I've become slightly addicted to the BBC’s World Cup 3D Experience.
From Erling Haaland rampaging towards an Iraqi goalkeeper at 32kph, to Messi's weirdly pathetic penalty, via a cramp-ridden referee, I have increasingly lived this World Cup through the players' virtual eyes.
Is this the future? How immersed do football fans really want to be? I'm unsure, but this deserved my curiosity, for @TheAthleticFC

The future of watching football matches.
ini ternyata bs nonton live dan jg versi highlights nya .
En la web de la BBC puedes seleccionar un jugador y ver acciones de partido en 3D virtual.
Así se ha visto el gol de Lamine Yamal y así lo ha visto el.
Watching a World Cup match in AR might be the closest thing to living in the future.
A full match playing as a miniature 3D stadium right in your space.

"The most ambitious piece of interactive design yet."
"What the BBC's new platform does is turn all that raw data into something visual and explorable, a live piece of interactive design built from the match itself."
Thank you for this great review @IanDean4!
