👤 so, tell me a bit about what kind of work you actually did
😇 i served as an assistant teacher—supporting the homeroom teacher at a special education school so they could conduct the class
👤 so when the class was in session, you’d stand nearby?
😇 i’d just sit nearby. if a student needed help writing, i’d go over and help them write. also, the students sometimes had trouble staying in their seats—they’d try to run off—so i had to keep guiding them back to their seats whenever they wandered away
👤 oh, they’d run off? they couldn't sit still?
😇 they’re on their own. there were many times they’d try to run out of the school, so i had to be really vigilant about that. i also had to keep a close watch on them during field trips
it was great. i found it really rewarding. it was tough at first, of course—i remember saying, “this seems hard," or “i’m worried about this and that" but as i adjusted and spent time with the kids... my affection for them just kept growing. i grew fond of them, and looking back, i also enjoyed the fact that they were calling me “teacher”—i mean, when else would i ever hear that?

😇 “teacher yoon jeonghan, teacher yoon jeonghan" hearing them remember my name and call me “teacher yoon jeonghan" made me feel so good. it was a truly precious experience.
and since it was a place full of special education teachers—real teachers—everyone was so warm-hearted. that was a wonderful part of it, too
