Yeah I definitely get that. To your point if someone were to ask my advice on going independent I'd recommend both to make social media a focus as well as do your best to anonymize yourself.

You have a guy who we'd wipe the floor with on any real game dev metric with outsized influence. Consequences of narratives vs reality.

I definitely empathize with what I think his general feelings are though. Especially growing up trying to break in for near a solid decade and seeing where the industry is now. Nightmare stuff now when you have talented senior devs out for years.
