Steve Ballmer quietly admitted to a secret side deal with Aspiration's co-founder — a guarantee on his $50M investment similar to the "I.O.U" for Kawhi Leonard.
"He is a victim," says the DOJ prosecutor who launched the case. "But he had a very different deal."
No prospect is a sure thing, but there is a very proven track record of rookie WRs making immediate impacts. In the last 5 years, 15 WRs have been selected in the top 20 picks of their draft*. The average yards in their rookie season was 879. 8 of 15 had 900+ yards and 6 of 15 had 1,000+ yards as a rookie.
Only 4 failed to clear 700 yards.
Kadarius Toney - significantly over drafted by a poorly run team who was scrambling when they got sniped
Jahan Dotson - over drafted relative to consensus
Treylon Burks - just a bust
JSN - drafted by a team with 2 returning 1,000 yard WRs. Also now one of the best receivers in the NFL. Simply lacked targets as a rookie in a crowded WR room.
The Eagles weren’t scrambling when they picked Lemon. They traded up for him. They didn’t reach for him, they drafted him later than consensus. They aren’t putting him in a crowded WR room.
I think it’s fair to have every expectation that he has a good rookie season.
*excluding Jameson Williams who was drafted as an injured player and Travis Hunter who tried to play both ways
I know it’s become pretty cliche and cringey to talk about at this point but if you’re under like 25 I cannot stress enough how one time Obama wore a tan suit and people spent a week arguing over whether or not it was demeaning to the Oval Office and they were serious about it.
