I have come across several people who seem to quietly wish for our economic collapse and ruin. They eagerly consume every piece of negative news about our economy, celebrating every setback, and whenever we clear a debt, their smiles turn into frowns. They predicted we would default in April, yet we cleared a USD 525 million sukuk repayment and a USD 400 million currency swap repayment. Then, they claimed we would fall in August, but we remained defiant and we just successfully repaid another USD 50 million. Yes, we are going through a challenging period, but Insha Allah, we will emerge stronger, with a more resilient economy. I believe we can criticize, demand accountability, and advocate for change without wishing for our doom.
p.s i usualy hangout near Shaheed Ali mosque area after prayers and stay at Merasa or Coffee n more,
I even visit elderly constituents if they request. If a constituent want to discuss about legislation or any matter regarding Majlis work, i invite them straight to Majlis and meet them.
if personal matters i do meet or talk on phone privately...
so i don't realy know why you say im nowhere to be seen.

Since the enactment of the RTI Act in 2014, this marks the first time in the history of the Maldives that the President’s Office and all Ministries have achieved 100% compliance with proactive disclosure requirements. Information that had not previously been accessible to the public has now been made available.
Transparency is not merely a policy objective. This administration recognizes the fundamental right to information as a cornerstone of public trust and democratic governance. This is a significant step toward advancing transparency, strengthening public access to information, and increasing accountability.
As we reach this important milestone in our journey toward a more open and accountable government, I commend all institutions and public officials whose dedication made this achievement possible. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing this meaningful work and enhancing public access to government information through digital platforms, ensuring greater civic engagement in government activities and decision-making.

I warmly welcome the United Kingdom’s decision to suspend tariffs on tuna imports effective 20th May 2026.
This important development will support British consumers while delivering meaningful benefits to the Maldives’ fisheries sector, strengthening fishermen’s incomes, supporting island livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for sustainably caught Maldivian tuna in the UK market.
The Maldives is globally recognised for its world-leading pole-and-line tuna industry and its commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing practices. This milestone reflects the close partnership between the Maldives and the UK and the importance both countries place on sustainable trade and economic resilience.
I thank the UK Government and all partners who contributed to this positive step forward for our fishermen and our economy. 🇲🇻🇬🇧
