Massachusetts already tried rent control, and voters repealed it in 1994 for a reason.

Capping rents doesn’t create housing. It shrinks supply, drives apartments off the market, and makes the housing shortage worse. Even liberal economists admit it often benefits higher-income tenants while everyone else gets squeezed.

The real solution is obvious: cut red tape, scrap the project-killing green energy stretch code, and make it faster and cheaper to build housing across Massachusetts. Do you think rent control will fix the housing crisis or make it worse?
