Portugal have a fantastic squad. Their midfield is full of quality—Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Bernardo Silva can compete with any midfield in the world. Technically, they are outstanding players.

However, sometimes I feel Ronaldo does not receive the same support that Messi receives with Argentina. Argentina understand how to maximize Messi’s strengths and help him influence the game. Portugal have the quality to do the same for Ronaldo.

Cristiano has spent nearly twenty years giving everything to his country. He has scored goals, broken records, won trophies, and carried Portugal through some of their greatest moments. If this is one of his final chances to achieve something special again with Portugal, then everyone around him should be helping make that dream a reality.

What makes Ronaldo special is not only his talent but his mentality. He never stops believing, never stops competing, and never stops fighting for victory.

This is why we have to fight for him in every way we can. And we don’t do this because he is perfect, and not because he belongs to any one party, but because Erias Lukwago has spent his entire adult life doing the one thing this regime fears most: using the law, patiently and relentlessly, to hold power accountable.

He has been the lawyer in the room when the bravest Ugandans were dragged before manufactured charges. He has been the voice insisting that the constitution still means something, even as the people in power treat it like a suggestion.

A country that allows a man like this to be abducted and tortured without consequence is a country telling every young lawyer, every activist, every honest citizen that defending justice is a death sentence. We have to make noise, we have to let them know they can’t keep getting away with it.

They took him to the basement to send a message. The message we send back has to be louder: Free Erias Lukwago. And remember his name, because forgetting such relentless fighters is exactly what they are counting on.

The Man Who Won in Court Every Single Time They Came for Him Was Finally Taken Without a Court Order Monday Morning, Probably the Only Way They Were Ever Going to Get Him.

While Erias Lukwago sits alone in that basement, abducted by a man who bragged about it on Twitter, it is worth pausing to remember exactly who they have taken. The regime is counting on us seeing him as just another opposition politician.

The person they have actually grabbed is one of the most stubborn defenders of the rule of law this country has produced in a generation, and a man whose entire life has been a consistent argument for the idea that the law applies to everyone, including the people who would rather it did not. This is the story about a man who doesn't get the credit he deserves.
