My Address at the 2-day Hybrid mode Conference on the theme "Implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in Jammu & Kashmir: Challenges of Inclusion, Equity and Accessibility", organised by Govt Degree College #Doda.

Key Takeaways:
"National Education Policy (NEP) 2020" has democratized aptitude-based learning and created a level playing field for students from Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns such as Doda to compete with their counterparts in metropolitan cities.

Must congratulate Government Degree College, Doda, particularly Principal Dr. Javed Iqbal and his team, for organizing a timely academic deliberation on one of the most significant educational reforms undertaken in the history of independent India. The erstwhile Doda district carries a rich legacy of higher learning and academics that has served generations of students across the region. I myself hailing from district Doda, vividly recall the times when students from far-flung areas travelled long distances to Doda and Bhaderwah to pursue higher education because educational institutions were scarce.

NEP 2020 has broken the rigidity of conventional education by allowing students to pursue subjects based on aptitude rather than compulsion, while shifting the focus of higher education from degrees to skills, innovation and entrepreneurship. A degree is no longer a trophy, and employment no longer means only a government job.

#Bhaderwah and Doda have disproved the notion that entrepreneurship is restricted to Information Technology or metropolitan regions. Beginning from a small patch of land in Bhaderwah, lavender cultivation has expanded across Doda district, neighbouring areas, Kashmir Valley and several other Himalayan states, creating new livelihood opportunities and strengthening the rural economy.

Government Degree College, Doda can be encouraged to develop a distinct institutional identity by promoting entrepreneurship in areas where the region enjoys natural advantages by establishing incubation support for Himalayan products, aroma-based enterprises and allied sectors in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH and #CSIR's Aroma Mission".

"India's next phase of governance demands continuous learning, institutional collaboration, curriculum innovation and technology blended with sensitivity. One of the governance challenges in India is that every State and every region presents distinct administrative realities, aspirations and developmental priorities.

India's diversity reflects even in its governance systems, where regional realities, linguistic and cultural contexts, political environments and developmental aspirations vary widely across the country. The need of the hour is more of interactive training ecosystem, rather than one-sided discourse or lecture model.

Last one decade has been driven by bold decision-making, encouraged by PM Sh @narendramodi and supported by technology, transparency and sensitivity towards citizens. For example, an initiative like Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) prevented leakages to the advantage of the genuinely deserving citizens and at the same time, generated savings exceeding ₹3.4 lakh crore".

My Address at the Graduation Ceremony of "National Institute of Science Education and Research" #NISER, #Bhubaneswar.

"NISER is a unique academic institution of it's kind in the country, functioning under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy, that was founded by the legendary Dr Homi Bhabha. And therefore, in awarding degrees to these youngsters, we are actually passing on to the next generation, the baton of the mission handed to us by Late Homi Bhabha.

When India's nuclear programme was initiated, the world looked at it with a certain degree of scepticism, in response to which Dr. Homi Bhabha had declared that India's nuclear programme was dedicated to peaceful purposes. Today Bhabha's declaration stands vindicated by PM Sh @narendramodi through decisions like the SHANTI Act and announcement of four Rare Earth Corridors in the country, one of which is envisaged in the State of Odisha, for upscaling the generation of clean source Nuclear energy.

260 young graduates passing out today carry the responsibility of taking forward the twin national commitments of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and achieving Net Zero target by 2070. The Multi-disciplinary training of these graduates is closely aligned with NEP 2020".

"AI Intervention holds promise of manifold increase in India's Agriculture Economy, while Agri #Startups hold the key to the future of farming. The next wave of India's StartUp revolution must emerge from farms rather than only from technology hubs, enabling agriculture to become a major source of entrepreneurship, employment and wealth creation.

In the age of rapid technological advancement, the agriculture sector can no longer rely on conventional approaches, as technologies are evolving faster than ever before. India will have to continuously adapt to new scientific developments in order to remain globally competitive and ensure long-term food and nutritional security.

Extensive scientific work is underway across various departments under the Ministry of Science & Technology, including climate-resilient crop development, genomics, crop improvement, pest-resistant varieties, precision farming and resource optimisation. Artificial Intelligence is increasingly becoming an indispensable tool for predictive crop management, precision irrigation, weather-based advisories and efficient utilisation of agricultural resources.
