IndiaTech is pleased to share the release of a new report authored by the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, examining the evolution of digital lending and making a case for expanding access to credit through #UPI by enabling broader participation of #NBFCs.

This work reflects a shared commitment to strengthening India’s digital public infrastructure and ensuring that the next phase of growth is both inclusive and innovation-led.

We had the privilege of presenting this report to Dr @ShamikaRavi Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council

The interaction was both insightful and energising. Dr. Ravi’s sharp questions, nuanced perspectives, and forward-looking suggestions pushed us to think more deeply about the practical pathways for implementation and impact.

It is particularly encouraging to see the @EACtoPM continue its focus on future-ready policy frameworks that balance innovation with stability—an approach that is critical as India builds the next layer of its #DigitalEconomy.

https://t.co/ndKMprrrih in partnership with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru, conducted the first round of stakeholder consultation as part of the ongoing policy research titled “Rethinking Digital Lending: A Case for Inclusion of NBFCs in the Credit Line on UPI Infrastructure.”

The discussion brought together diverse perspectives from across the ecosystem to deliberate on the evolving role of UPI as digital public infrastructure, the design of credit delivery over it, and the broader questions of inclusion of NBFCs, competition, and regulatory architecture.

As we move towards finalising the recommendations and the subsequent policy engagement, we invite stakeholders from the #NBFC, #FinTech, #MicroFinance, and the larger financial ecosystem to share their inputs with us at [email protected].

As we close 2025, we’ve been reflecting on the year at https://t.co/6Y0avvp8Cw. We chose to tune out the noise to focus on one singular vision: enabling the Indian startup ecosystem to become globally competitive.

Here are the themes that defined our year:

1. Relevance over Scale
We deepened our role as a solution partner for startups and unicorns. While our scope expanded across new sectors, our focus remained constant: delivering practical, founder-relevant policy guidance that prioritises long-term impact.

2. Policy Meets Practice
We spent the year operating at the intersection of regulation and reality. From virtual assets to e-commerce, taxation reforms to ease of vehicle ownership, financial inclusion to clean mobility, evolving fintech landscape to emerging technologies, we worked towards specific policy unlocks that enable sustainable growth for the ecosystem.

3. Collaboration that Adds Context
The https://t.co/6Y0avvp8Cw ecosystem expanded with mission-driven organizations working in frontier tech and deep science. Closer partnerships with policy research and analysis platforms helped us stay grounded in what’s changing - and respond thoughtfully on issues like gig economy frameworks, digital rights, and emerging tech regulation.

4. Conversations that Matter
Listening came first. Solutions followed. Through IndiaTech Dialogues, we moved beyond commentary into constructive action, uniting founders, policymakers, legal experts, and investors for a comprehensive deliberation of policy issues.

5. Recognition, with Perspective
Receiving the India Startup Catalyst Award was a humbling reminder that consistent, collective effort is what shapes policy outcomes. It was a moment to honour a journey that began seven years ago.

6. Community, Always
To the founders building for India and the globe, and the partners who placed their faith in us. You shaped 2025. Thank you for your trust.

Looking Ahead to 2026
Our focus sharpens further:
