400 people across India, the US, the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore and more are paying to learn Indian languages on @indilingo.
Let that sit for a second.
Someone in Sweden is waking up and practicing Hindi. Someone in Denmark is learning Malayalam. Someone in Singapore is working through Kannada lessons. Not because they have to. Because they want to.
I started building Indilingo in September 2024 because I personally wanted to learn Kannada and could not find a single app that took Indian languages seriously. Spanish had ten options. French had twenty. Kannada had nothing worth using. So I built it myself.
A lot of people told me it was a small market. I kept building anyway.
We launched in May 2025. Zero marketing spend. Not a single rupee on ads.
And people found us. A man learning Tamil because his wife's family speaks it at home. Someone learning Sanskrit to read ancient texts the way they were actually written. People learning Marathi and Kannada after moving to a new city. People learning English from their regional language because a better career is waiting on the other side of it.
400 paying customers later, I think the market was never small.
The appetite was always there. Someone just had to care enough to build for it.

Weโre building for the world, starting with Indian languages ๐
Huge thanks to @dodopayments for helping Indilingo accept payments across 90+ countries so smoothly โค๏ธ
PS: we now have users in over 108 countries.
we have a new case study out. this one is on @indilingo.
they're building a language learning app for Indian languages. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit. users learn from their native language, not just English.
they had users across 90+ countries but no way to collect payments globally. users were literally asking to pay and there was no checkout to send them to.
they switched to @dodopayments. first test payment processed in one night. 90+ countries now collecting payments. once UPI went live, India became their #1 paying market overnight.
the payment layer survived a full backend migration from Flask to FastAPI without a single code change.
Big news! ๐ Indilingo is officially part of the Google for Startups Immersion: AI cohort, powered by @GoogleStartups and @AntlerGlobal.
