Joe Rogan hosted far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on his podcast today. They pushed anti-vaxx conspiracies and broadcasted banned Infowars videos. Rogan continuing to platform these far-right sickos is incredibly gross and dangerous.

It's important to support people who do the difficult work of infiltrating extremist cultures, and Talia does a great job of describing how various extremist ideologies interact online.
Facebook insists that it has learned its lesson from the 2016 U.S. presidential election and is no longer a conduit for misinformation, voter suppression and election disruption. Experts and even some Facebook employees have their doubts. https://t.co/aYK1XPbNcS
"White supremacists dehumanize you so successfully that in order to even begin to address the way that they work, the way that they operate, what their beliefs are, you have to dehumanize a part of yourself to even engage." -@EmilyGorcenski https://t.co/BG615QHqHK
This is 100% the fault of companies like @Facebook, @Twitter, and @YouTube.
There have always been conspiracy theories, but they've never spread so quickly, so broadly, and affected people so deeply.
Video spreading on social media of a simple crease on Joe Biden’s shirt is fueling a conspiracy theory about Tuesday’s debate.
I met some Trump supporters in Duluth, Minnesota yesterday.

What would you do if your sister joined a hate group?
That's a question Samantha's brother had to answer when she joined a white nationalist hate group.

Check out “extremely,” a podcast I’m hosting for @ADL & @PERIL_AU where experts discuss their work combating hate & extremism. It will change the way you think about extremism – & the people who have dedicated their lives to fighting it. Visit https://t.co/j0Z0eg43yT to subscribe
As #QAnon grew, Facebook and Twitter missed years of warning signs about the conspiracy’s violent nature. Suggest reading my blogs after you read this one. https://t.co/Z6npj16nz6
The proud boys started as an anti-women org. Misogyny is the gateway drug to where supremacist radicalization. Misogyny is a public safety risk that people treat like an irrelevant personal preference
Cyan Banister is a prominent Silicon Valley investor.
The research that she did evidently didn't involve the @ADL, @splcenter, or government agencies who consider The Proud Boys to be a violent extremist group.
Doing some research and it appears that characterizing this group the way the media has is incorrect. They have a few bad apples who’ve claimed to be part of their org but in general not true.
The @ADL's file on the group that Cyan is defending: "Misogynistic, Islamophobic, transphobic and anti-immigration. Some members espouse white supremacist and anti-Semitic ideologies and/or engage with white supremacist groups."
If you question anything you are labeled a “white supremacist”. This is getting to multi-levels of ridiculousness. Never in my life did I think this would happen. I spent my teen years fighting and almost dying by the hands of skinheads. Actual racists.
"We know this platform [Facebook] has been used to promote white supremacy. White supremacists groups convene on this platform, they recruit on this platform, and that should not be tolerated."
-@DerrickNAACP at today's #RealFacebookOversightBoard press conference
.@Facebook is happy to sit back and profit while people argue with the right-wing extremists who shouldn't be there in the first place.
"'If you're a far-left partisan then why can't you fight fire with fire?' the executive said."
NEW: Why are right-wing FB pages so popular?
A Facebook exec argues the msg is just more visceral: "Right wing populism is always more engaging...Nation, protection, the other, anger, fear. That was there in the 30s. That's not invented by social media"

"It’s a standard way of defaming an outsider group. It’s coincidentally deployed against early Christians: 'They eat babies and they do weird sex things...'" Don't miss @mpgPhD w/some super astute contextualization of QAnon: https://t.co/GdUhnLSN4U
"Tomorrow is supposed to be big news" just like a hundred other days were supposed to be big news.
Platforms like Twitter provide cult members with social support to stay in the cult after prophecies keep failing.
See "When Prophecy Fails" by Festinger, et al.
Even credit repair companies are radicalized these days.
Reminder that "Soros" is a dog whistle for the same old antisemitic conspiracy theories.
The idea that Jewish people use Black people to attack White America used to appear in Klan newsletters. Now it's on Fox News.
