Over the past three days, I've come across three disturbing videos showing hooligans targeting individuals in the name of promoting the Marathi language.
The victims include a D-Mart employee, a Bank of Maharashtra Branch Manager, and a Security Guard.
In my opinion, none of these incidents were genuinely about language barriers affecting service. Instead, they were cases of language politics fueling unnecessary conflicts and intimidation.

PNB Transfer Policy Overhaul: An Eye-Opener – No More "Baap Ka Bank" Unilateralism

Voluntary Inter-Zone Transfers Only | Officer-Centric Approach Replaces Arbitrary Moves
Major Changes in PNB Transfer Policy 2025:
Extended Stay in Circle: Mandatory tenure in a circle increased from 6 to 7 years. Officers completing 9 years in a circle won’t need to move out of their zone.
No Forced Zone Transfers: Officers won’t be compulsorily transferred out of their zone; shifts will be within the same zone.
Voluntary Inter-Zone Transfers: Officers can apply to move to another zone voluntarily.
Choice-Based Transfers: Officers completing 7 years can apply for their preferred circle, prioritizing contiguous circles and linguistic areas.
Expanded Exemptions:
Age-based exemption lowered from 58 years to 54 years.
Female officers with children—exemption extended from 2 to 5 years.
Single parents exempted until the child turns 15.
Exemptions for physically challenged officers and caregivers.
More Transfer Options: Officers can choose from five circle options instead of a fixed location.
Metro City Circle Reclassification: Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad now treated as separate circles, easing transfers.
No Zone-to-Zone Forced Transfers: Transfers between zones will be completely voluntary.
North-East & J&K Exempted: These regions will not be included in the transfer policy.
Priority in ICT: Officers forced to move earlier will get priority in inter-circle transfer requests.
Impact:
Major win for officers, reducing forced relocations and increasing choice.
Association signs MoU, withdrawing agitation programs.
More work-life balance compared to policies in peer banks.
