Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared on Meet the Press and asked “Where is Germany?” when discussing Patriot fire units and missiles for Ukraine. The ignorance on display demanded an immediate fact check.

Germany has delivered more complete MIM-104 Patriot fire units to Ukraine than the United States. Roughly half of all Patriot systems now defending Ukrainian skies came from Bundeswehr stocks. Between 2023 and 2025 Berlin transferred five fully equipped fire units, plus additional launchers and what is believed to be a spare radar. Germany began supplying Patriots at the same time as the US and has never stopped. Washington halted those transfers long ago.

The interceptors tell an even clearer story. With every fire unit Germany shipped dedicated missile packages, including one of 100 and another of 64. These kept the systems operational in the critical early phase. In February 2025 the German Ministry of Defence confirmed it had already delivered 328 Patriot missiles of various types. That figure came before the final two fire units, before multiple PURL and JUMPSTART tranches, and before several smaller direct transfers from German stocks. The total number of financed and delivered Patriot interceptors from Germany now easily exceeds 500.

Since President Trump took office Germany has repeatedly taken the lead in organising, financing, and delivering new Patriot munitions to Ukraine. In February 2026 Berlin spent weeks negotiating with multiple partners until more than 30 PAC-3 missiles reached Ukraine. German officials have also conducted high-level talks with Spain and Greece to unlock additional stocks.

Berlin does far more than broker transfers. It pays Washington directly for American-made missiles. In June 2026 alone Germany committed 200 million dollars through JUMPSTART and another 200 million through PURL for PAC-3 and other variants. Total German contributions across these channels now surpass 1 billion dollars. In other words, Sec. Bessent, we are the ones funding the very missiles you claim America is generously providing.

In April 2026 Germany announced its largest single commitment yet: 3.2 billion euros to procure and deliver 600 PAC-2 GEM-T interceptors for Ukraine’s Patriots. These missiles are manufactured in Germany.

The numbers are clear. Germany has outdelivered the United States on complete Patriot fire units. Germany has supplied the majority of the missiles keeping those systems alive. Germany continues to organise urgent packages when Washington does not. And Germany pays Washington hundreds of millions of dollars for American missiles that are then sent to Ukraine.

So the next time a senior American official asks “Where is Germany?” on national television, the answer is simple. Germany is doing more for Ukraine’s air defence than the United States, while simultaneously paying your bills. The question now is where Germany stands. The question is why Washington keeps pretending it is carrying a load it long ago dropped.

Then, he launched a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy, claiming that Putin is "easier to deal with."

The betrayals escalated when Washington failed to provide its customary early warning to Kyiv regarding an imminent Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears the White House has ordered a temporary suspension of Starshield—a military version of Elon Musk’s Starlink, upon which the Ukrainian armed forces rely.

"The throttling of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable failure to provide advance warning of Russian missile launches have already led to the needless deaths of Ukrainian civilians," Branson wrote. "How much worse can it get?" "If one thing is clear, it’s that European leaders must move past the initial shock of Trump’s recent actions and step up. This is as much about European freedom as it is about Ukraine’s sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "Every option should now be on the table—from transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, to delivering advanced weapons systems like the German Taurus."

"Why, oh why, is this happening? We cannot allow the free world to be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded.

We couldn’t agree more. Trump is an enemy of Ukraine, an enemy of democracy, and an enemy of the American people. When the Democrats regain power, we will have a major task ahead of us. Every trace of this monstrous man’s legacy must be erased.

How is this even possible? Because we went to sleep. We didn't care. We didn't vote. We didn't really listen.

You know, of course, I didn't vote for this guy, but I didn't do enough work to skillfully convince people around me.

People close to me, not close to me, that this was insane to elect this person as president of the United States.

We all have to take responsibility for this. But how quickly, this was in weeks, he had dismantled America.

And you see how quickly our world can be taken from us if we fall asleep. And so we have to see the cues.
