A place to catalog my travels to nowhere in particular, what I’m reading, and enjoyable podcasts. Love history, America and of course my family—Beat Navy!
Reinventing myself on X with some of my passions outside of my kids and grandkids. Love Presidential history and history in general. Always looking for something cool and new to see and learn about!
@PrezWisdom It has to be an incredible weight to carry know you are the mastermind behind such a destructive force regardless of the necessity, but ultimately it was on the President to make the decision and carry whatever burden to his grave.
Normally I try to find some historical site on my way to a job site; however, this week the Mrs. And I are on the US 40 National Road yard sale. Heading west from Wheeling on the old National Road is a very beautiful display on Americana. Historically is the S bridge and Zanesville's Y bridge as well as many of the original slightly restored mile markers.
It was many years ago that I was fortunate to spend 4 days in Paris. The history and architecture lover in me really enjoyed it. So much to see and do, just sitting at a cafe for an hour absorbing the scene and scenery is really cool. The service workers I delt with didn't make me feel welcome, but like someone else mentioned if you had to deal with tourists all day it would likely make anyone a little cranky
@IntoGeo W/O cheating I came up with Brazil, Portugal and of all things Senegal. Of the two remaining, I can't believe I couldn't think of it and the other I doubt would have ever come to mind
Today I traveled through northern Indiana and began to stumble on these gems. Apparently I was traveling thru Fulton County which is known as "the round barn capital of the world". I also found out that Indiana has over 220 but the largest is in Wisconsin. They were only constructed between 1890 and 1920 for the use of dairy farms.
