@Selena_Tuohy @fionagoddarduk It's called "Grooming Gangs: Fiona's Story". You'll find it on Open Justice UK's channels on YouTube and Spotify: https://t.co/XLUJDo5PGU
Please take the time to watch and share this podcast.
In this episode, I speak more openly and honestly about grooming — how it started, how it slowly escalated, and how it took hold of my life. This isn’t my whole story, and it never could be in one conversation, but it is a deeply personal look at the abuse connected to the men who were sentenced in relation to my case.
Court transcripts only ever show fragments. They don’t capture the fear, the manipulation, the confusion, or the impact it has on your life. In this podcast, I try to fill in some of those gaps and give a fuller, more human picture of what really happened.
Sharing this isn’t easy, but it matters. If you can, please listen and help share it.
Today we’re publishing the full trial transcripts of Fiona Goddard (@fionagoddarduk).
Available to read now on https://t.co/X1TzcgFPSh.
This is a landmark moment, the first publication of much of a full trial transcript in modern British legal history.
There are sections redacted that fall broadly into three areas:
-Discussion of Victim B, who had an allegation against one of the men and has not waived her anonymity in the way Fiona has.
-Discussions of admissibility of evidence that wasn’t used, & discussions about personal details that were spoken when the jury wasn’t present.
-Discussions amongst the legal counsel of other cases or things not pertaining to this case.
The general approach was to publish everything that was said while the jury was sitting, and legal discussions around precedent and process that didn’t deal with personal information while the jury was absent. We think it’s an incredible insight into how trials, particularly grooming trials are conducted.
I live in Epping, home of The Bell Hotel. This podcast is based on a forthcoming article I have written for The Observer. I’ve tried to remain true to the newspaper’s name: watching and listening rather than taking sides.
Epping: A very English uprising
What really happened in Epping and what does it tell us about where the right in Britain is heading?

Fair enough. Recently I have done stories for @BBCNewsnight on Khashoggi, Chinese state brainwashing and bad housing in UK. I have a rule that if you do grim stuff, it’s OK to gently mock power. I do both.

This is a fascinating interview, and whatever you may think of Bannon, contains a cogent attack on globalisation and the "global elites." https://t.co/AOxoSYDkEF
Sources: Sergei Skripal has been discharged from hospital. A remarkable job by the doctors and nurses who looked after him given his critical condition after being poisoned #NHS#Skripal
