Donald Trump is so determined to fight terrorism in Nigeria that he has just withdrawn the United States from the Global Counterterrorism Forum.

The president of ‘peace’ has also withdrawn from the International Peacebuilding Commission and Peacebuilding Fund, along with the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law, the International Law Commission and many others.

Not that these commissions mean that much, but the “fvck you” alert from Trump is all you need to pay to attention to. Each passing day, he keeps signaling “above the law” status.

Fast forward to December 2025, when the U.S. dispatched missiles to Northern Nigeria, devastating communities and injuring civilians, all, it claimed, to combat “ISIS-linked” terrorists.

But how interested can the U.S. really be in fighting a terror threat its own leaders have admitted to funding?

When will this embarrassment end?

Can we get through a day without troubling news in this country? At a time when Nigerians need joy and unity—something the national football team, the Super Eagles, has been providing by winning matches and lifting our spirits worldwide—these same players are being denied their basic match allowances.

A country that writes off trillions in debts for government agencies and political allies, and squanders money on grandiose, self-serving projects, now struggles to pay the basic match bonuses owed to our players.

Nigeria deserves a better international image than this ongoing failure to honor previously agreed-upon allowances before the tournament. The Super Eagles do not deserve this embarrassment or the avoidable distractions ahead of a crucial quarter-final match. Nigeria must learn to fulfill its obligations.

Breaking: Report reaching me has it that a Kaduna high court has sentenced Victor Solomon popularly known as Zidane to death by hanging for murder.

Zidane was arrested by the Elrufai led government in 2018 for defending his Adara community against Fulani terrorists attacks.

He was charged for murder in two different state high courts which one of the courts acquitted him of the charge while the other now condemned him to death.

Why should same charges be filed in two different state high courts?

This is another case of self defense getting the death sentence in Nigeria.

In October 2025, I visited Zidane in Kaduna prison where he assured me that since one court had acquitted him of the same charge, the other will do the same. Zidane was wrong, he believed too much in the compromised judiciary where judges dish out sentences based on the accused faiths.

Barely days after the body of a nurse with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, was found by the roadside, the body of an Abuja-based female lawyer has been discovered along the Kubwa Expressway.
Abuja Metro reports that Nurse Chinemerem Chuwumeziem, a staff member of FMC Jabi, finished her afternoon shift on January 3, 2026, and boarded a vehicle on her way home, but never arrived. Her lifeless body was later found dumped by the roadside.
