In physics, chasing quantum computing or AI without solid basics often ends in shallow understanding, or wild optimism/pessimism. You cannot build a spire on weak foundations. First: major languages, literacy and logic; then specialise.

This article made me think deeply: religion can comfort the suffering, yet also legitimise hierarchy. Not blaming believers, but sacred authority can freeze caste, gender roles or class power. Japan, Korea and Taiwan may be clearer than China.

Whenever I see Hervé Renard, the French coach in the open-necked white shirt, I think, “Didn’t he used to have long hair?” But no — that was Bruno Metsu. Metsu died far too young, yet somehow his image still lives very strongly in my football memory.

For once, Trump has a point. Japan also copied America and calls ⚽️ “soccer”, but I’d love us to switch to “football”. The best part: in Japan, 🏈 is already called “American football”. So the naming problem is basically solved. 😆
Oh Boy: President Donald Trump wants the NFL to change its name so that soccer is the only sport named football.
"This is football, there is no question about it. We have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff."
😬😬😬
Americans are laughing at Japanese W-Cup tourists for discovering Texas Roadhouse and calling it “the best Texas steak”. Apparently this is like Americans going to Japan and declaring Marugame Seimen the place for “authentic Sanuki udon”. A beautifully global misunderstanding.
🇨🇦 Canadians are booing the United States flag
🤡 Liberal media are calling protecting US borders from terrorist connected referees racist
🇩🇪 🏴 Europeans are loving The South, Waffle House, Bass Pro Shop, & Walmart
🇯🇵 Japanese are loving Texas Roadhouse
What a World Cup it’s been so far.
My son says he can understand almost all of this lecture. He is now wondering whether that is something to be proud of, or deeply embarrassing. Perhaps true education begins when you can no longer tell the difference😆
Peru’s presidential elections are always astonishing. 2011: about 3 points. 2016: 0.24 points. 2021: 0.26 points. 2026: now just 0.016. And Fujimori keeps losing them all. Peru seems almost mathematically split in two😲
I knew Montenegro was a foothold for Japanese players in Europe, but not on this scale. Nearly 1/3 of the foreign players in 2nd div are Japanese. It’s a country where Japanese men can get leg cramps not only from football, but from using the urinals. They are unbelievably tall😆
Foreign players in Montenegro's football pyramid 🇲🇪(Transfermarkt)
1st CFL Montenegrin League
🇯🇵 Japan: 51 players (9.9%)
🇧🇦 Bosnia & Herzegovina: 35 players (6.8%)
2nd CFL Montenegrin league
🇯🇵 Japan: 98 players (34.4%)
🇷🇸 Serbia: 84 players (29.5%)
You might be wondering why Japanese players make up such a large percentage of the foreign player pool, even outnumbering players from neighbouring Balkan countries such as Serbia and Bosnia.
