10) This case is ongoing. But so is the broader dispute about safety and fair pay rises.

So rail workers notified the NSW Government of what to expect in their next round of industrial action: such as the indefinite closure of opal machines at train stations.

9) Thanks to false and inflammatory comments by the NSW Premier and his Ministers, rail workers started copping vile abuse at train stations.

So, last week we launched a court case outlining how the NSW Government had violated Australian industrial laws.

8) They also politicised this dispute, aided by media who were all too happy to run political attacks and generate clicks.

Would 13,000 rail workers really spend 18 months of their lives and turned down an $18k bonus, if this wasn't truly about the safety and fair pay?

7) This led to the past month of disruptive industrial actions across the rail network.

However, NSW Government doubled down on their PR war and tried to turn the public against rail workers.

6) Eventually, the dispute reached an impasse. The NSW Government left rail workers with an impossible choice:

a) drive unsafe trains and cop a real pay cut during a cost of living crisis
b) strike

5) Eventually the NSW Government told the media they would agree to fix the safety issues, but not to a fair pay rise.

However, the NSW Government refused to sign the document detailing the safety fixes. They even refused to give an undertaking in court to fix the trains.

4) To end the dispute, the NSW Government offered rail workers an $18,000 bonus earlier this year to drop their safety concerns.

Rail workers refused.

You can't trade off safety for cash.

3) What are the safety issues? Here's three:

#1 Guard doors automatically lock, preventing guards from assisting passengers on entry and departure
#2 CCTV blind spot below 1.1 metres. Children, prams, etc. are in this blind spot
#3 CCTV screens are in drivers line of sight

2) For over 18 months, rail workers have been asking the NSW Government to fix safety issues with new intercity trains and provide a fair pay rise given the soaring cost of living.
