A #podcast where 30+ yr researcher Emeritus Professor @GlennMcConell1 chats with the who’s who of #exercise research. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube etc.
I keep seeing misinformation on here by people with massive followings.
Wouldn’t it be better if people got their info instead from these research experts?!
Please retweet/like and tell your students, family and friends. Thank you.

I reckon my old mate Andy is sharp as a tack!
Controversial? Let us know why:
“Nothing magic about training at a particular intensity” (eg Zone 2)
“Lab based tests are not the gold standard”

Given 56 years ago he ran 2:08:33, what time do you think he’d run today if he: had todays shoes, drank sufficient fluids including CHO during his races, wasn’t working full time, had a coach, massages etc.
Make sure you check out my podcast episode with Derek + top researchers
Favorite part was a little past the midpoint when Andre La Gerche comes on to talk about Derek Clayton's heart and experience with afib
Touches on topics I hadn't heard elsewhere
Multiple ablations, when to treat, the nature of AFib, physiology of the heart

@MarkPreben Just had the big chat. What a legend. Unfortunately with 5 of us chatting it was a bit hard to get through everything and didn’t get a chance to ask him your specific qns. It came across that he would have trained a little less hard if he was to do it again. More recovery etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions for Derek.
I’m going to do it in order of the events in Derek’s life. So start with Derek and I and then add in David Costill (1969) and then add Mark Hargreaves (1991) and then Andre La Gerche (~2022). An extravaganza.
Can’t wait!

@feelthebyrn1 Just finished. Spoke about his heart quite a while but I didn’t get a chance to ask your specific question. The feeling that came across from Andre was that exercise is great and going hard with AF was fine. See what you think once I release it. Be interested in your thoughts.

@DrMJoyner@stevemagness@coachgambetta Hahaha. Perfect. The “zone 2” obsession is so out of control. If you spend one second above it you’ll never burn fat again!! 😂😂
Dr Andrew Coggan: “Be a skeptical consumer of information and truly consider the source”. He’s talking about why need @inside_exercise. From his 2nd time on the podcast: https://t.co/YE1OrI4Kih
