We tried to give AF all the possibilities. To date, we have been operating under a budget of $65k per quarter from AF grant, despite being paid less than this in reality. AF was informed that maintaining AE for 2024 costs ~240k of which a significant portion goes to cover essential server costs. They rejected.
We did offer AF full rights to the source code and infra so they or anyone else can run and maintain it, our only request was help paying part of the accumulated liabilities of RandLabs around ~$140k that we owe to server providers and unpaid salaries, 100% of these liabilities were generated because we were paid using the 30d avg of ALGO and because we have year-long contracts for servers as no one in their right mind would have expected AE to not be continued for next year. We didn't even get a response from them. Now, the community pushes us, but RandLabs needs to keep its assets as it goes through bankruptcy proceeding as third-party providers will want to cover accumulated liabilities. We invite the community to propose viable solutions, but it is completely impossible to cover AE costs with the number of users the network has. We would love to hear solutions from AF instead of blaming us.
