If it means the take-home working goes up then it could be a good thing. It’s more likely it’s asset grab from a fiscally stretched gov.

@MulbearA @2disbetter @geerlingguy When I upgraded my MacBook Air M1 to MacBook Pro M4 Pro I just sold my old Air. I’m fairly certain it is still in use today. That’s a 6 year old laptop now. All electronics end up as e-waste eventually.

@pvot_nl @geerlingguy You can run Linux in Docker. The majority of stuff most people do on Linux you can do on macOS anyway. The laptop is so cheap you don’t need to upgrade just buy another one in 3 or 4 years and the cost will likely be the same anyways.

@shellpenguin0 @choehau_ara Debatable. Depends what you want to do with it. Linux is better for various hardware so it has that. For a general use client I prefer macOS because way better software is available for it. I use both depending on what I need it for.

It was better when they were using stainless steel than this aluminium shit. I don’t care about Vapor chamber or thermals. Pro series has gotten worse since the 14 Pro.

The software built on top of it isn’t. I don’t think most hardware companies release info on how to make their phones. Most apps are closed source on both Android and iOS.
