the first students to use the @PioneerPirates Inspire lab during lunch - they loved it! so fun to see their creativity and collaboration. none of them realized 10 minutes could go by so fast!
exciting things happened at Pioneer today:
1. the #greenhouse got stocked w/ all sorts of items & classes are going to get started w/ their planting projects!
2. the #makerspace inside the library is open & ready for kids to explore & create

Are the leaves in your area putting on a colorful show this autumn? 🍂🍃
Learn about the science behind the color change with this @scijinks article for kids: https://t.co/hxFOLGyJFB
Then, make a classroom connection with a "Leaf Chromotography" lesson: https://t.co/Dv3mbSkGTw
@whitney_martens I’m nowhere near where I want Makerspaces to be in my school either. But it’s a process I’m working on slowly & getting others on board (& slowly accumulating materials & tools)
Have you seen this list of possible resources?

@dorifriedman I would love to know more about this project and how you wire them to make them play a full scale! I would love to collaborate with our music specialists to do this project with my students! Incredible work.
Inspire your student with @NASA’s graphic novel “First Woman,” the story of Callie Rodriguez, the first female astronaut and person of color to set foot on the moon. Read online or download the English or Spanish versions here: https://t.co/J5wJyxS55C
3/3: square pumpkins with Ms. Valdivia
Ss listened to “The Square Pumpkin” & found the volume of a set of boxes. They were then challenged to make a volume net to cover their box. We then used our @Makedo cardboard saws to carve the pumpkins! @SaltarsP@steillyschools1#steam
2/3: volcano fences w/ Ms Oliver
After learning about volcanoes Ss engineered a fence to protect a house from an explosive volcano! We simulated an eruption w/ baking soda & vinegar- the most explosive from our tests a few weeks ago. @steillyschools1@SaltarsP#inspirelab#steam
Today was a busy day in the @SaltarsP#inspirelab! 3 activities!
1/3: gravity lab w/ Ms. Crook! Ss measured how high then can jump on earth & will calculate/graph how relative gravity on other planets would change their jump height. @steillyschools1#steam#mysteryscience
@djkueber R1 People think S . T . E . M. - 4 stand alone branches. We need to show how they are branches off the same tree - STEM - a connected, relevant and inclusive part of all subjects! @dailystem#msdmvSTEM
Before @NASAArtemis astronauts explore the lunar surface, they have to go to Space School! This week's episode of the 'NASA Explorers' video series focuses on the training they're doing to think & act like geologists. 👨🏾🚀⛏️👩🏽🚀

Students at Chloe Clark explored the color wheel, while highlighting the magical, waxy, water-resistant properties of crayons! Love this project that is both science and art! #steam#art#rainbow
The hurricane hit this morning at 8:50 am in Ms. Merritt’s room and her students, as well as Ms. Fletcher’s students, built very strong houses that survived the storm! Take a look at these designs! @SaltarsP@steillyschools1#steam#inspirelab
Ms. Merritt & Ms. Fletcher used the Inspire Lab today to build houses to survive a category 5 hurricane! The storm is coming in over @SaltarsP this evening & is expected to hit land tomorrow morning. Stay tuned to see how their houses do in the storm! @steillyschools1
