We have watched this happen over and over again.

As many of you know, this is personal for me. I have personally been targeted in the past year by some of these SAME activists and race baiters. My own family was placed in danger for nearly a year while activists threatened to k*ll me, harassed my family, and spread defamatory misinformation all over the internet. Why? Because I’m a white woman reporter who dared to investigate a story about a black m*rderer.

They are now targeting these families in the same way.

A tragedy occurs. Before the facts are known, and even AFTER the facts are known, the racists on social media appoint themselves as judge, jury, and executioner. Rumors spread, and lives are destroyed. Families are threatened. Young people become targets.

It has to stop. Austin Metcalf’s friends were targeted due to racists and activists online. And now, it’s happening again in the case of Nolan Wells.

After the death of Nolan Wells, several young men and their families have endured weeks of relentless online harassment, death threats, doxxing, and public accusations. One individual has already been arrested for making threats against Warren Hudson’s mother.

That’s why they are now launching a legal defense fund. I’m working with them and other journalist/influencers to help make sure that they get the help they desperately need.

The initial focus is to help Warren Hudson and his family, along with Jax, obtain the legal resources they need. As appropriate, this fund may also assist others who have been subjected to unlawful threats, harassment, or defamatory attacks related to this case.

It’s time to draw the line.

If you knowingly spread false accusations, threaten people, intimidate witnesses, or participate in coordinated harassment campaigns, there should be accountability.

We’ve seen what online mob justice can do. We’ve watched misinformation spread faster than facts. We’ve watched families suffer because strangers on the internet decided guilt before the evidence.

No more.

Please stand with them. As you know, defamation is one thing, but now it looks like Nolan’s mother is preparing for a wrongful death suit. She prepared paperwork even on the very day she buried her son, all while being led around by the hand of Ben Crump.

These families need our help. If you are tired of Ben Crump. If you are tired of Al Sharpton and all the other race baiters on the Internet, it’s time to put our money where our mouth is.

After facing weeks of accusations, harassment and threats, friends of Nolan Wells have launched a GiveSendGo to fund their legal defense and pursue potential defamation claims.

According to their statement, “Most of them could not even attend their own best friend's funeral.”

The organizers say the campaign has two goals: “Our first goal is to raise money to defend these friends against incoming wrongful death actions filed by Attorney Ben Crump and his team.”

These young men cooperated with law enforcement, turned over information and were questioned. Yet internet personalities declared them guilty before the investigation was complete and before any charges were filed.

The Washington Post editorial board accuses me of a conflict of interest that might bias me against Big Pharma, whose interests they apparently seek to protect. The problem is that I never received a penny from the Merck Gardasil settlement, and neither has my son nor anyone else in my family.

Before taking office, I relinquished any interest in potential Gardasil fees back to the Wisner Baum law firm, which publicly confirmed this during my confirmation process. Yet @SenWarren, @Reuters, and @washingtonpost editorial board — in their ardor to protect Big Pharma — continue to push a false narrative that makes Big Pharma the victim and me the mendacious villain. They should correct the record — and spend more time examining the real conflicts that have long disabled the regulatory function of my Department, all of which I am now deconstructing.
