I have to say, this is the worse crypto bear I’ve gone through, and I’ve been in crypto since 2013. China banning bitcoin, FTX collapsing, Luna rug, Mt Gox, Gensler, none of it felt as depressing as AI hacking protocols with a simple “drain the contract, make no mistake”. Those who survive this market will be invincible and go on to create a wave of trillion dollar protocols.

My thought in Midnight being the better bet out of the 2 is that Chuck will spend most of his time and YouTube marketing hours in focusing on pumping his new bags, so it's more likely to see upside in future. Plus privacy (ZCash) has been a bit of a hot narrative lately, so realising taxable losses in Cardano now might not be such a bad thing.

But heh, you might be right, Night (whilst having more upside imo), def has more downside too.

The video sounds like a soft exit from Cardano without saying the words.

0:00 - Opens by saying he is "not leaving" Cardano.

5:59 - Says he is not passionate about ADA price.

6:21 - Says he is not passionate about Cardano KPIs.

7:00 - Questions whether Cardano is still what he thought it was.

13:20 - Says he is taking time away, but will "keep working on Midnight."

15:45 - Says if his proposals do not pass, he has "no role or place in Cardano moving forward."

22:10 - Says Cardano can survive "the loss of your founder."

23:10 - Says Cardano needs to become something different, "like Midnight is."

Seems obvious where the passion has moved.

Cardano is now the thing draining him because people there still expect accountability, results and delivery.

Midnight/privacy is his new passion. My advice to all $ADA holders who still, for some reason, believe in Charles is to sell all your $ADA and go all in on Midnight, just like Charles will eventually. Going forward that's where his focus and YouTube channel will be gearing towards.

FWIW, I wouldn't buy either $ADA or $NIGHT, but if you're a Chuck cultist, and against better advice still believe in this man, your best bet long term is $NIGHT because that's where all his attention and marketing will be.

Charles truly deserves your dollars, and you truly deserve the $ADA he swapped you.

The funny thing is I truly believe in the Midnight privacy narrative. Everything Charles says on that is right. Privacy is needed. As is selective disclosure. However, like you said, fool me once.

I have zero confidence in IOG developing the tech they're marketing. I'll wait on someone else to do it. Aztec, ZCash, Secret Network, anyone else...

100% correct.

To his credit, Charles was unusually honest in that moment.

He basically told everyone that Cardano was feature complete, that IOG had delivered its roadmap, and that anything beyond that point would have to be billed separately through the treasury.

Never mind that DeFi still feels broken, the chain is still nowhere near the performance people were led to expect, and we are supposed to accept the usual "multiple transactions in one transaction" spin as if that changes the lived reality for users.

The message was clear:

IOG completed what it promised.

Anything else is extra.

If the treasury funds them, they keep building.

If not, they move on.

At that point, IOG is no longer really "Cardano's development arm." It is a development house for hire, available to whichever ecosystem funds the work.

And right now, the real energy clearly looks like it has moved to Midnight. That is where the growth narrative is. That is where the privacy story is. That is where Charles sounds genuinely excited.

Cardano, apparently, is "complete."

So there you go, folks. Do with it what you will. Change the world.
