Macon's transformation since our first Macon Action Plan (MAP) was completed in 2015 has been nothing short of stunning. We were back in town in April for two separate but inter-related projects: https://t.co/wsEXUUcQBu
Another great & important project w/ our friends @Interface_LLC providing a pathway for a neighborhood to transform itself with a little help from some friends
At our nbhd block party and through our surveys, residents shared their big ideas for improving the area, and we worked with institutional stakeholders to make a plan for their shared vision through the pillars of Community, Housing, and Neighborhood. https://t.co/7swqrGeqVN
The Together We Rise plan for the Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood is complete! We worked with community members, @RiseLvt, @CityofFortWorth, and other committed partners in Fort Worth to complete a Neighborhood Transformation Plan for LVT.
We got to visit Cramer Hill Waterfront Park in Camden, NJ, a new 62-acre park built on the former Harrison Ave Landfill. Residents had been advocating for years to clean the site up, and we were fortunate enough to work with them over 10yrs ago on the Cramer Hill Now! Plan.
The plan summarized + illustrated the community’s vision for the site - and it has now been realized!
It can a while to move big ideas fwd, but neighborhood plans can play a vital role in helping fundraise, build coalitions + secure commitment necessary to make the vision reality
"In just four short years, [Macon, GA] saw an increase of almost 800 residents living in the downtown core and a 25 percent increase in storefront occupancy (along with high retention of those businesses)," writes @CivicCommonsUS 1/x
Just some of the impact of the Macon Action Plan we led in 2014. "The success of the initial efforts downtown allowed partners, particularly @newtownmacon, to invest in attracting diverse business and prop. owners, increasing by double-digits the % of black owned businesses." 2/x
We are grateful to have worked with the City on their Wilmington 2028 Comprehensive Plan and with Cornerstone West for their Westside Grows Together Neighborhood Plan, both of which influenced these funds. Go Wilmington!
Congratulations to the @cityofwilmde, Cornerstone West and their partners as they announce using American Rescue Plan Act funds for the expansion of the Wilmington Strong Fund, the West Side Small Business Innovation Grant Program, + West Side Corridor Revitalization Fund.
These began in 2020 as a way to meet the changing needs of the small business community as it struggled to survive during a pandemic and help expand opportunity to Black-owned businesses. https://t.co/0Kh95SS8zF
