Something is really strange about this Ebola outbreak. People are alerted since a month now, and the numbers keep going up. Either this strain is highly more infectious or it has been spreading in the dark for far too long, reports are only now catching up

A WHO expert warned of major 'blind spots' in the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, saying its true spread remains unknown.

CZ is smart. He knows that if the world doesn't support from the root, it's gonna get really bad, before it gets better. Basic equipment is running out and with that the miminum tools to oversee and contain the virus.

yeah that's very convenient after having shipped all Ebola patients to Europe first. Trump knew exactly what he was doing: Ebola is to stay as far from the World Cup as possible. But when it's there, it's Europe's fault.

I can see, they don't mention Ebola at all. It's like a taboo topic they want to silence to death, but we all know what happens when you desperately try to sweep everything under the rup. The officials are basically praying now.

But that's impossible. There is too much money involved. The first case of Ebola in the midst of the world cup fever will reveal people's true nature: fear, panic, blaming. It's going to be a bloodfest of chaos.

I can understand the revolts. How can anyone sit still, when someone's solution to a deadly virus is to ship it right on their doorstep?

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Nanyuki in central Kenya to protest moves by the United States to set up an Ebola quarantine facility at a military base there https://t.co/MMe3kUMAn1
Men who recover from #Ebola should avoid sex for at least 6 months or use condoms consistently and correctly.
This is because the virus can stay in semen even after recovery.

If you cut corners on prevention and detection, you run the risk of paying multiple for emergency measures and causing unrest on top.

Makes total sense. The virus has an incubation period of up to 21 days. The single cases were attributed to random hemorrhaging fever. Only when it became more systemic, the tests for Ebola came in, verifying the rare Bundibugyo strain. A lot of time lost.

The most concerning Ebola detail right now:
The outbreak lineage likely emerged between late March and late April.
Official declaration came May 15.
That is a very long blind spot for a hemorrhagic fever outbreak.
This is the real reason Ebola spreads like a wildfire in Africa. A lot of them are not educated enough to believe it's real. And you only need a few rogue ones to set the situation ablaze.

This curve is crazy, either they all had a colossal bat stew orgy or this thing is way more contagious and spreads in ways unthinked of by any experts.

This chart is extremely concerning.
The 2026 Bundibugyo outbreak is already tracking above the early trajectory of the 2018 Kivu Ebola epidemic within days of declaration.
🇺🇸🇨🇩 A U.S. missionary just tested positive for Ebola in the Congo.
It was the rare Bundibugyo strain, not the more common Zaire.
Dr. Peter Stafford contracted it while treating patients during an active outbreak.
His wife and another missionary are quarantined but asymptomatic.
The DRC has had more Ebola outbreaks than any country on Earth.
When Western healthcare workers with access to proper training still get infected, it tells you everything about how hard containment actually is on the ground.

I am not sure why it takes so long for them to confirm or deny whether those Americans have been infected. Is it because they don't have any reliable tests?

Viruses mutate constantly. We call this ebola, but it might have already evolved into something with much more dangerous features. One thing is clear though, nobody has a full overview of who is infected, and what this variant is capable of.
I think some people knew about this weeks ago, it has probably been running rampant in the shadow of Hanta. The news now are just because they can't contain it anymore. Think about it, you hear nothing and then suddenly 260+ infected, 66+ dead. It's been brooding a while.
The lower mortality rate of 37% in comparison to the 90% of the Zaire variant makes it effectively more contagious. Viruses aren't actually interested in their host dying, as it gives them better chances to spread if their host survives.
Hey everybody, thank yall so much for being so supportive and keeping this old meme alive. It’s been really fun seeing how many people still love this thing.
