@Barney55575756@jabberwock951 The mortgage was in negative equity after the housing crash. I rented the house out but fees took at least 90% every month, which still left me short. I walked 4 miles to and from work every day and foraged for food.
@Barney55575756@jabberwock951 There was a time in my life when I had just split from my ex, and she had moved nearer her family. Not wanting to be far from my kids, I moved as well. Suddenly I had a mortgage to pay, rent to pay and child maintenance to pay. Those 3 things came to more than my monthly wage.
The word they always reach for is "provocation."
When North Korea tests a missile, that is a provocation.
When Iran enriches uranium, that is a provocation.
When Venezuela nationalizes its oil, that is a provocation.
When Cuba maintains its political system for more than six decades, that somehow, still, is a provocation.
The word "provocation" implies that there is a "neutral baseline" that is being disturbed.
What is the neutral baseline?
American military bases in 80 countries.
The largest naval force in history patrolling every ocean.
The dollar as global reserve currency enforced by financial architecture that extracts value from the periphery to the center.
The IMF and World Bank imposing structural adjustment programs that have, for more than forty years of documented evidence, consistently transferred wealth from poor countries to rich ones.
That is the baseline.
A country asserting its sovereignty within that baseline is called a "provocation."
The baseline itself is never called a provocation.
Because the main character does not provoke.
The main character simply exists.
And the people who respond to the main character's existence are, by definition, the ones causing the problem.
@ZConcacaf It started with Christiano Ronaldo being sent off for violent conduct against Ireland.
Ticket sales and tv ratings were more important than sporting integrity from that moment on.
🚨🇺🇸 Folarin Balogun will be eligible to face Belgium, after FIFA opted to hand him a suspended one-game ban under Article 27.
The red card stands, but he’s free to play — as @MelissaMOrtiz reported.
@morepuzzled@astro_knot78@yechielleiter Why don't you just roll over and let your oppressors trample on you for once? asked the oppressor.
Peace works two ways.
A very dangerous new nightmare we are living in Gaza City, and no one in the world is paying attention to it.
Days ago, the Israeli army installed huge military cranes, each about 30 meters tall, on the eastern areas it controls. These cranes are equipped with machine guns and cameras, and they fire randomly and almost continuously at tents, streets, and exposed neighborhoods.
Gaza City is extremely narrow, only 10 kilometers wide. A single crane at that height is enough to expose the entire city from east to west. Every street, every square, every tent, every house has become completely exposed. There is no place to hide, and not a single moment of safety.
In just the past two days, three people were killed by fire from these cranes. One of them was sitting quietly with his father in a small café, trying to breathe for a few minutes. Hours later, a 5year old girl was killed while playing near her home.
These cranes have turned the entire city into an open field. The latest military technologies are directed at civilians. We have become an open testing ground for their new weapons. The horror is not just in the sound… it is the constant feeling of being an exposed target at all times, where even children cannot run in the street without fear.
🚨🇬🇧 My fellow white people all over the world.
We are not oppressed because of our race. When we pretend we are, we look like idiots.
The evidence on policing shows the opposite. Stop and search. Use of force. The Lammy Review. Macpherson. The disparities are documented, and they don’t show anti-white bias. The training that followed didn’t turn the police into an anti-white militia. That’s a story, not a fact.
Here’s what is a fact. The police failed Henry. He told them he’d been stabbed. An officer said “I don’t think so, mate.” He died. Procedure wasn’t followed. That failure is real and it deserves answers.
It had nothing to do with his race, or yours.
Anyone telling you Henry died because the police have become anti-white is selling you something. Farage. Lowe. Braverman. Robinson. They need you angry, irrational, and not looking at the data - because persecution is the product. It keeps them relevant. They have no solution to a single real problem this country faces.
Henry deserved better than to die. He also deserves better than to be turned into a false persecution narrative, or a culture war martyr - his own grieving father explicitly warned against this.
@Greenironcoxy@KieranMaguire Genuine question, from someone who knows nothing about the area - is it regeneration or gentrification? Are the families that lived there before 2012 being pushed out by rising costs?
